For me, I’m an NFL fan above all. I have my alma maters that I will like to see win. But when they’re not playing, I’d much rather see Indiana, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, or Arizona State win a national championship over (yet) another Ohio State, Alabama, or Georgia.

i go the opposite way.  I'd rather see the traditional teams play than watch arizona state play smu.  i dont mind that in the regular season, but i like the traditional programs to play for championships.

probably because that's how i grew up, watching michigan lose rose bowls.

IU is the best team in college football this year. I want to watch the best teams compete for a national championship. Tulane and James Madison had no business being in the playoffs. Get rid of the automatic bids and let the best spent NIL money compete.

I have no clue because I don't follow it very close. I never liked college football, but I did basketball. I think they have already ruined BB. Then again, the money and shenanigans have always been there. Ohio OSHAA just voted in NIL money for high schools. Oh, goody!

I guess its more out in the open now. Ohio, football, Moeller, if you were familiar with big time Ohio football back in the day. I was a coach in division 4 baseball and was not at all impressed with the OSHAA. It's all crooked, but what ain't?

well, in the end it's one more thing I don't have to feel bad about not caring about any more. At the rate society is removing things I used to care about from my interests, I may yet experience Nirvana  before I die. 🕉️

I agree.

I fought with OSHAA about how many tickets we could get for the parents and relatives who wanted to go watch a tournament game and not pay. They were like dealing with the mafia. And baseball was nothing like the revenue generators like BB and FB. I can only imagine...

First person I thought of was Dan Campbell's 20-something year old son. Couldn't imagine where he got that kind of money to support his dad's rival.

I can’t imagine many UC fans are that broken up about losing Sorsby.   He wasn’t the difference maker that he could’ve been last year.  It’s a very soft class when he’s the top guy in the market and can demand $5M.

The thread continues. What stops him from just dropping out of UW and enrolling at LSU? He contractually can't enter the "transfer portal" but a pre-med student at Mott Community College who wants to transfer to Michigan State doesn't have to enter the portal either.

if he's officially a student at LSU, is the toothless 2026 version of the NCAA going to stop him from playing at LSU? I doubt it.

And LSU will find a way to get him his money. No one cares if he's getting it directly from the school or LSU gives Raising Canes $6MM and Raising Canes gives him $6MM for appearing in a single commercial.

There are no adults in the room and it's showing.

depends on the wording of the contract, counselor.  a journalist may hear that he is prohibited from entering the "transfer portal" and print it.  maybe the contract says that.  but maybe it says he "cannot transfer to another school and participate in athletics" or be "compensated to participate in athletics" or something more concrete?  if it is a contract put together by the big ten, one would imagine it is more careful about verbiage.  

but who knows?  if it just says "transfer portal" that seems pretty easy to get out of.
