Pistons have until October 31st to exercise their team options on Ausar, Holland, and Sasser.  The option is for the 2026-27 season.

can we deal sasser to new orleans for an unprotected first?

Flagg ended up 61 which still seems high for a guy with 0 minutes played.  But I don't need the clicks.

Cade was 12th I think.  Duren in the 80's.  Ausar and Ivey in the 90's.  Ivey was actually 100 I think, but close enough.

From an ESPN article talking about all of the rookie extension possibilites.

Quote

Will it happen?: It feels unlikely either of these will get done. There are just too many complicating factors in getting to a fair number for Ivey, making it more likely both sides will let this season play out and revisit next summer. And while Duren is young and showed improvement last season, there are questions about his rim protection long term and making a big bet on him now feels beyond what Detroit will ultimately do. It is also worth noting that this front office didn't draft either of these players. -- Bontemps

Charlotte is the lowest value team at $4 billion.  Pistons are the 27th lowest at $4.17 billion.  Golden State is #1 at $11.33 billion.

Gores bought the Pistons for $350,000.  So a cool 1,000% ROI.

Cant see it because its a paid site.  But a few people have mentioned, Marc Stein reported that Duren's agent asked for north of $30 million per year on his extension.

RFA was always going to be the best way to handle this anyway. Not a lot of teams make offers on RFAs and so we can just let the market determine his value. A rim running Center who plays spotty defense (at best) and can't space the floor isn't going to command north of 30M on the market, even if he is a great rebounder.

Best thing to do is move him at the deadline and try to salvage something from him.  I don't even want him back at a cheap price if he doesn't improve his defense.  Don't spend money on guys who are negatives in the playoffs.

What a mess.  Oh, the first Peacock exclusive game of the season?  October 27th, Cleveland at Detroit.  So you won't be able to watch without a Peacock subscription.

Nov 1st is also a Pistons game exclusively on Peacock when they play Dallas.

Nov 10th against Washington is another.  But that one also lists FanDuel.  So maybe if you subscribe to FD you will be able to watch it.

Nov 18th against Atlanta is listed as Peacock/NBC/FanDuel

Jan 5th against the Knicks is just listed as Peacock

Jan 19th against Boston is listed as Peacock/NBC.

Jan 23rd is  on Prime against Houston.  But at least most people already have Prime.

Feb 6th against the Knicks on Prime

Feb 19th against the Knicks on Prime

Feb 23rd against San Antonio is on Peacock and FanDuel.  Because why would you want two of your best young players on a channel everyone can watch.

March 12th against Philly on Prime

March 30th against OKC only on Peacock

I didn't list ESPN or NBATV games

It's for the better to not extend either. Ivey might never be the same after multiple leg injuries plus the question marks in his game already and Duren's major flaws are very apparent. He improved a bit last season but a guy who does nothing but dunk better be top notch defensively to compensate and he's not even average. There is something to be said for the chemistry he and Cade have developed in the pick and roll with being a lob threat and he does seem to fit the culture they're building but you don't give out big money to guys who just dunk and are culture fits so it appears that Langdon played this smartly.

is there any detail on what is wrong with his knee? The broken lone bone should not leave any residual deficit. Knee issues are always a worry though.

That will hurt free agency next summer.  If they are both still around in July, It's probably just the MLE for Detroit in free agency.  Should be around $16 million to spend.

It would not be good if neither of our two lottery picks warrants an extension.  disastrous, really.

That's the Weaver era for ya. Langdon has no attachment to these guys

Good point. Get him on the phone. Ivey and Duren for Trey Murphy.

I would make that move in a second. Ivey is viewed as damaged goods until he can play a full season.
