If I was in a conversation with Benetti it would cover diverse ground across a huge swath of areas with lots of humor. Shep was probably really comfortable talking about mowing his lawn. To me the tragedy is that I think Shep could have been very good. I've heard him be better in different circumstances. He just refused to be his best self. I can't figure why. Could he not get over being starstruck sitting next to a personal hero? Was he hung up on the idea that you can't know as much about the game as a player if you didn't play? That's nonsense, You may know different things but would Shep seriously argue a Bob Costas doesn't know more baseball than most players? Maybe he was afraid to fail being himself so he was comfortable hiding behind being strictly the PBP guy and leaving all the rest to his color man. But if that's your take, you really shouldn't be there. And that's where it ended. Edited 10 hours ago by gehringer_2 1 Quote

Her delivery is OK, but her remotes are too wordy, the form too repetitious (I talked to......), the information imparted generally too trivially obvious, and too long. A remote needs to insert in a pause in the action, not trample two or three consecutive plays - not that they care much about that anyway with the other in-game interviews they do. That said - she's better than Johnny-I've-got-the-giggles-Kane. I watched the Boston feed for the opening game 3rd inning, when the Tigers scored 9 runs. They spent the first 15 minutes interviewing a Boston pitcher in the dugout, basically ignoring the game in progress. It serves them right, getting their team humiliated while they rambled on and on asking the difference between a slider or 2 seam fastball. Who cares, your team stinks! But yeah, I agree, Daniella just keeps talking when action is going on. If they wanna do in-game fluff reports, skip the commercials and do it between innings. (Yeah, right.) Quote

I also thought Shep was intimidated or starstruck sitting next to guys he idolized as players like Gibby or Morris. It was something he got a little better with over time but never got over. Benetti doesn’t have that issue but to me just seems to blab the whole game about nothing. I like Dan D and wish he was on TV instead of the radio broadcast. Quote

lordstanley Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago This is superb. Only thing I might have put in there for a bit to add to the TWIB vibe would have been making part of Javy’s trot in slow motion. But that many have wrecked the timing. 1 Quote
