One of the most important things a manager can do to help his team win games is to manage the bullpen successfully. Hinch has been very good at it. It seemed like last year, whoever he called on did a good job. Without Hinch's good use of the BP, we don't make the playoffs. Even if he did keep using Shelby Miller earlier in the season. I think he blew 7 or 8 saves? Quote

No one who did the pizza “celly” ever looked like they were really into it, not even the guy who purportedly came up with it. Quote

I saluted it for being subversive of the owner. If it was in earnest it would be the lamest thing ever done. Quote
oblong Posted May 28 Posted May 28 I liked the hockey one because it showed kinship with another local team and I figured it was something they were bonding over. Then I realized "celly" was a thing that all teams were doing and I got kind of annoyed. When did that become a word? I didn't realize it became a thing like sliding mitts and elaborate eye black that has invaded youth baseball and made it's way upwards. Organic and natural is always better with these things. Not manufactured. Quote

Arlington Posted May 29 Posted May 29 All the HR celebrations looked ridiculously contrived to me because they are. The worst is when the team is down 13 - 1. Back in the day, before my day, they use to do a cold shoulder, essentially ignoring the fear, especially to rookies hitting their first. Quote
