Jack Flaherty is overdue a good start. If he can fulfill the definition of a ‘quality start’ it would be a help to the bullpen.

My driveway is dry. Which is good, because I'm going to see the Pulaski River Turtles take on the Bluefield Ridge Runners (Appy League)  tonight. The Ridge Runners are managed by former Pirate Jack Wilson,  who I remembered as a Tiger Killer back in the oughts. So I looked up the numbers, and he had 3 great series against us. We only played the Pirates about once every two years on average then.

He knows what he has to do.  The Knuckle Curve needs to be better.  He’s been dominant when he’s just off the plate with it.  The past couple starts it’s been so far short of the plate that nobody is even thinking about hacking. It puts him behind in the count and makes his fastball and slider much more hittable.

The A's problem isn't hitting and scoring runs, it's horrible pitching. They've scored 339 runs, it would be the 2nd most in our division. The Tigers need to score 6 to 8 runs against them. Even Skubal gave up 4 runs to them and he's pretty good...😆

The storms seem to be following the Tigers around. 😁

Joe Btfsplk was a character in the satirical comic strip Li’l Abner by cartoonist Al Capp. The hapless Btfsplk means well, but he is "the world's worst jinx" and brings disastrous misfortune to everyone around him. A small, dark rain cloud perpetually hovers over his head to symbolize his bad luck. Btfsplk and his ever-present cloud became one of the most iconic images in Li'l Abner.

I never really read Li’l Abner in the 1960s when I was growing up. I was aware of it - especially this character as a trope - but
it was aimed at older people and was full of mocking distaste for my generation.

Similar feeling. The one I do miss from back in the day is Pogo.

Flaherty gets to pitch in better conditions today. Against Tampa, it was about 1000⁰ with 300% humidity.😆 Much better tonight. Hopefully we get better results. 6 ip and 3 runs allowed? I would take that.
