IdahoBert Posted yesterday at 06:56 PM Posted yesterday at 06:56 PM If anything happens today, there might be something on Tigers Live on FanDuel at 6 PM. That might give me a reason to tune in early. Quote

lordstanley Posted yesterday at 07:41 PM Posted yesterday at 07:41 PM Baseball is funny, the way things can turn rather quickly. We've seen that the Tigers in July. I believe the Jays' win on Saturday pushed their record to 16-4 for their past 20 games and they soared to the top of the MLB standings. But since then they have lost 10-4 to the Tigers on Sunday, 11-4 to the Orioles last night and have lost 16-4 to Baltimore in the 1st game of a doubleheader today. So 0-3 and outscored 37-12. 1 1 Quote

I think this is why we’re not seeing anything incredibly dramatic happen in the next two days in terms of trades. Quote

He experienced minor knee tightness which caused a slight delay in his between-starts throwing program. This resulted in him being pushed back a day in the rotation. (I had to look this up and this is what I found by the way). Quote

(I had to look this up and this is what I found by the way). Yeah, I tried and couldn't find any info. It's a relief because I'll thought he would be out for a while. Hopefully, he's OK. We really need him now that Olson is out. I guess Hinch will have to keep an eye on him. I really wish Harris would have signed Matthew Boyd last winter. He got 30 million for 2 years, 15 m/per. We paid that much just for Cobb. A total waste of resources. And it's not like he didn't know, he had to talk Cobb out of retiring. Quote
IdahoBert Posted yesterday at 08:35 PM Posted yesterday at 08:35 PM All these guys seem so fragile now. I remember following the 1982 Dodgers over the radio when I lived in Tucson - the only baseball I could follow closely - and six of the eight starting batters played 147 or more games and three of the four starting pitchers, because it was a four man rotation then, started respectively 36, 37 and 39 games pitching a ton of innings. And nobody had career ending injuries. The game was so different then. Quote
lordstanley Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago All MLB games today through Thursday are Free on MLB.tv. I'm not sure why, so asked AI what's the significance of July 29. No way can we lose on International Tiger Day! July 29th is not a widely recognized national holiday in many countries. However, it is observed as National Chicken Wing Day, National Lasagna Day, and National Lipstick Day. Additionally, it's International Tiger Day and Rain Day. Here's a breakdown: National Chicken Wing Day: A day to celebrate and enjoy chicken wings. National Lasagna Day: A day to indulge in the delicious layers of lasagna. National Lipstick Day: A day to celebrate and possibly wear lipstick. International Tiger Day: An awareness day to highlight the conservation of tigers. Rain Day: Observed in some areas, particularly in Pennsylvania. Quote

We know the kids probably throw too much, too hard and too many breaking balls too early - so by the time they get out of HS some of them already have geriatric arms. And we know guys throw harder a higher percentage of the time in each outing - all of which certainly contribute. But another effect I wonder about is whether back in the day, overwork in the minors just weeded out more guys that couldn't take the grind in the majors before they ever made it. Teams take much better care of their MiLB arms than they used to so maybe more guys get to majors before their first major injury? Quote
IdahoBert Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Alex Cobb pitching in West Michigan tonight. Also, Tigers' pitching plan for this weekend in Philadelphia: Friday: RHP Jack Flaherty Saturday: LHP Tarik Skubal Sunday: RHP Troy Melton Quote

Edited: Actually it's probably to give him more time with his wife and newborn. Edited 23 hours ago by 4hzglory Quote

So they had a larger pool of guys to grind into dust. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Saw this… RHP Jackson Jobe (right UCL reconstruction) is completing rehab daily. i’m not sure what this means. Does it mean that he already had the surgery and he’s working out in someway or is he just sitting at home avoiding guitar hero? Quote

IdahoBert Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago The gigantic old-fashioned D on the caps from last weekend? Was it some special celebration or are they just trying to sell more caps? Quote

That would not be the case today. Nothing explains the difference between today's game and previous decades more than this. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago mlb.tv given that these games are free for a while is aiming it’s ads at a younger audience. There are “manscaped“ ads making the joke that they are “face pic“ photos instead of the other kind of pic, and sex lube ads for Skyn. Quote
