They walked into Philly and kicked the Eagles' asses. They're legit, not just a cute story.

They’re no more legit than the 2024 Vikings.

Analytics don’t lie. Analytics call them one of the worst 9-3 teams in NFL history. They’re overdue for an ass kicking of their own.

Wouldn’t we *not* want to root for the Bears? I’d rather they lose to the Packers next week and swap positions. The Lions aren’t winning the division this year, so let Green Bay have it. Detroit’s best chance at getting in is to overtake the Bears as a wildcard, not the Packers with their two head-to-head wins. Beat Dallas next week, and with a Bears loss to GB it closes the gap to one game. Bingo: that wildcard spot is there for the taking since the Lions get to play the Bears again. Even if they go into Chicago a game back… win it and they’re in. I think this is correct? Someone check my math

The tiebreaker is very unlikely to come up with the Packers.  Only way is if we have a tie.

Good point.

Still like their chances to overtake the Bears since they're done playing the Packers. With one matchup remaining, they have an opportunity to take a game away from Chicago. They can even be a game behind going in

I don’t care about that. The Lions have played their way into this situation, they need to play their way out. Not rely on others to lose to save them.

Thats pretty much what he was saying. Win this week and win in Chicago. But we cant win our way out of it if Chicago wins every game until we play them. They're 2 games ahead of us, we need other teams to beat them. Chicago winning in Philly makes me wonder if theyll lose.

He was saying we should not want to root for the Bears because the Bears losing to the Packers helps our chances. I was saying I don’t care about that. I want the Bears to win every game not against Detroit. If the Lions win out, great. That would be amazing. But I’m not going to hope that the Bears lose to the Packers. I hate the Packers and respect what the Bears are doing with the players they have.

The Lions need help to make the playoffs.

We're closer to the Packers but the tie they had with Dallas and them having the tie breaker against us is a problem. I want the Lions to make the playoffs, losing to Dallas would make that much more improbable. If we win, I would prefer Chicago to sweep Green Bay so maybe we could pass them. But yeah, the Lions need to go 4-1 to have a realistic shot. And since we're 3-4 in our last 7, I don't know if we can.

No arguments there about needing help.

If the Packers or some other annoying team like the 49ers stumble and the Lions back in, great. Anything can happen in the tournament, I guess. I just won’t have a rooting interest in other games based on how it affects the Lions. That ship has sailed for me with the pathetic showing the last few weeks.

I hope the Bears win the NFC’s top seed. I like TB too, so maybe they can go on a little run. Rams are my 3rd choice. I guess my respect for Stafford outweighs my dislike of McVay. Although I actually didn’t mind that they lost to Carolina, so maybe I don’t care about them at all?

I watched the Rams game. It was a really good game. Stafford with 3 turnovers was surprising. The Bears being the #1 NFC seed this late in the season is the surprise of the year. That Washington-Denver game last night was really good. Bo Nix is the real deal...

The Bears have had the good fortune to have some of the worst teams in the NFL on their schedule.  Vikings, Raiders, Giants, Bengals, Saints and Commanders.   New Orleans was the only one of these losers they didn’t have to comeback late in the 4th quarter to beat.     They are really close to being 5-7.

Beating the teams you're supposed to beat is the sign of a good team. Chicago will (may) be really good with a couple/few good drafts.
