It’s a hard pill for me to swallow when Tork talked yesterday about how many beers he was drinking last night yet. Dingler or Torres or Greene or Tork would have been so exhausted by an 8th or 9th inning at bat that tomorrow’s off day wouldn’t be enough to recover? I’m actually ticked off.

I don't blame you. I am also unhappy.

What this does mean is that if the Tigers go on the road and beat Cleveland in the WC round (very doable, IM0, at least 50/50) they would play the Jays in the ALDS starting next weekend. That would be fun.

A part of me just wants this season to get over and done with so I can invest my time in worrying about things I can actually affect like the state of the world and the limitations of human mortality. <ducks>

Cleveland walks off 9-8 in 10.

Gotta admit, that’s some exclamation mark.

What the Guards have done is really something special, and if it hadn’t come at the expense of our guys I would have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Maybe I’m wrong. Are the MLB playoffs a bracket instead of based on seeding every round?

They are going to be exhausted after all that baserunning and winning.

Tigers had the best record in the American League and 3rd best record in MLB and a 9.5 game division lead with 16 games to go. Turns out that 7-9 would have got them a bye and 5-11 would have won the division. Instead they went 3-13. Finish with the 6th best record in the American League and tied for 11th best record in MLB.

It needs to be brought up more in the context of lazy stories about the “collapse” of the Tigers.  20-5.

That means we have goals for next season to work on. Be just a little bit better.

Yep, making the playoffs is at least treading water and something to build on. The “collapse” loses a bit of significance because of that and will be all but forgotten if the Tigers win a round or two.

I wasn't going to say anything but all of these whole alcohol celebrations bother me, as a non-drinker. A lot of kids watch these guys play and look up to them. It went from a celebration of popping champagne to a piss water beer explosion. Not sending a very good message...

I remember in 2006, we blew the division on the last weekend. It forced us to play the Yankees in a short series. That was the best thing that could happen, in hindsight.

Steven Vogt is a very good manager. Hats off to what Cleveland accomplished this season. They never quit.

What was he doing the first 5 months of the season?

The dive of '25 wasn't a "collapse".  It was a COLLAPSE.  Obviously, a series win in the playoffs would take away some of the stench.  The Tigers could have done something about the Guardians and put them away when they had the chance and their "epic" run would have been an afterthought.

You're a genius!! 🤣🤣

If by “genius” you mean I know where the Roster Resource section of FanGraphs is, then hell yeah, I’m a genius!

I didn't even know Sewald or Rainey were called up. Both of these guys are veteran pitchers.

I wonder which of these series will get the most attention from the media?
