I don't know that he was safe, but I do know there wasn't clear evidence to overturn what was called. The right hand might have touched the bag (before the tag), might not have. Really, really hard to tell looking at the camera angles we saw. Without clear evidence it should have stood as called.

Agreed. And I never saw a synced replay of where Dingler crossed the plate with the run that didn't count.

It looked to me like to play at third occurred just before crossing home.

Short, short leash. Mostly because of 8 LH hitters in the Cleveland lineup.

Yeah, and I guess Hinch alluded to that in the on-field interview just before that when he said Skubal’s outing yesterday kept some bullpen arms rested.

I disagree.  I like the agressive baserunning.  It took a perfect throw to make it close and even then it was questionable.  The advantage was we would have had 2 runners in scoring position and a base hit makes it a 4-1 game.  They won the most games in the league over a 162 game stretch from last August by being agressive - don't change it now in that situation - just like Cambell shouldn't change it early in a game in the playoffs.  If it's the 9th inning, same situation, then it's a different story.

Agreed. The same when Cora sends runners home and they get thrown out. It's worked many more times than not. We just remember the failures. With that being said? I wish Zach would have strayed at 2nd base. 😅

Trying to score and going to third are not even close to the same.

The aggressive base running is good, but it has to be across the board. If Dingler is sprinting home, he beats the play at 3rd. He let up when the throw wasn't coming home.

remember when McKinstry first came to the Tigers and was a dead red FB hitter that couldn't handle anything with spin? The wheel has turned completely - it's the FB he struggles with now.

IMHO, You need to look at this situation where a single run is most likely the difference in the ballgame. Whether it’s the 9th inning or not.   It’s been that way with most of these games with Cleveland.   I think you have to play it like a one run game.  That being considered, the risk didnt outweigh the reward.

They completely changed their philosophy on sacrifice yesterday and it paid off because the situation called for it.   I think the same should’ve been true today as the situation called for it.

This is true. Any strategy that has  better outcomes on average, may not have a higher probability of success in any specific combination of conditions. That's what you pay a manager to figure out.

The only thing the same is the possibility of getting thrown out. These guys have been aggressive all season long, we led MLB going first to third.
