Sports_Freak Posted December 7 Posted December 7 (edited) Hopefully the Pistons learned a lesson in the loss to the Bucks earlier in the week. The Pistons are going to (should) smoke them tonight. Edited December 7 by Sports_Freak Quote
lordstanley Posted December 7 Posted December 7 I’m a bit of a fish out of the water as I follow the Pistons less closely than the other three Detroit teams, but I’m at the game tonight to check out this 18-5 thing. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted December 7 Posted December 7 People will say he is putting up numbers on a bad team. That is true, but you need to look a bit deeper. When a guy puts up big numbers on a bad team, look at his efficiency. If a guy puts up points and is inefficient and just chucking up a ton of shots, not good. But Porter Jr. shoots 59% from 2PT 39% from 3PT and 81% from the FT line for a TS% of 62%. That makes him one of the most efficient players in the league. Meaning, his offense probably translates to a good team. The problem with Porter Jr is his defense. He is bad, like terrible. On the nights his shot isn't falling, he doesn't do anything to help you win. Maybe they could live with that because his offense is really damn good. Quote
buddha Posted December 7 Posted December 7 back issues are always in the picture when it comes to porter. 1 Quote

Deleterious Posted December 7 Posted December 7 No clue how reliable this is, but it makes sense. Also, most guys have a clause that lets them out of their European contract if they get an NBA offer. Quote

Deleterious Posted Tuesday at 01:58 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:58 PM No 😞 Shams' Inside Pass: Trade buzz on Anthony Davis, Giannis, more Quote Anthony Davis of the Dallas Mavericks, another former NBA champion, is expected to be a critical trade target of several teams, including many of the East's contenders. The Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors are expected to be suitors for Davis, league sources told ESPN. The Mavericks are open to exploring the trade markets for Davis, center Daniel Gafford and guards Klay Thompson and D'Angelo Russell, sources said. Davis' agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, has met with Mavericks interim co-general managers Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi, and requested clarity about whether the franchise wants to extend Davis in the offseason or trade him ahead of the deadline. Finley and Riccardi accepted the message and stated the franchise wants to keep its options open and view how the team plays for the next few weeks. They have not ruled out the possibility of an extension. The Pistons (19-5), Raptors (15-10) and Hawks (14-11) represent high-level threats in their conference and are having seasons that give hope that a player like Davis -- a 10-time All-Star who has spent his entire career in the Western Conference -- can elevate them into a viable championship-quality team. buddha Posted Tuesday at 02:20 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:20 PM if they give up anything for anthony davis i'm going to be pissed. but that article could just be anthony davis' agent talking to shams or mark cuban trying to drive up interest. Quote
buddha Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM why are people doubling jerami grant? Quote
Deleterious Posted Tuesday at 08:42 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:42 PM They don't have a healthy PG. Maybe he's handling the ball more and teams see it as a way to force turnovers. Quote

Deleterious Posted Wednesday at 11:51 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:51 AM Even if you could talk yourself past the injury concerns, it doesn't address what a bad fit Davis is for a team like Detroit. He is a career 29% 3PT shooter. In 10 games this season, he is shooting 33%. But minus this season, the last time he shot >= 30% from three is the 2019-20 season. Between then and now, he has shot 25% from three. I do think we get carried away with shooting sometimes. You don't need 5 guys shooting 40% from distance on the floor at all times. But you need 2 or 3 good shooters at a minimum on the floor at all times. Assuming Harris is the one dealt for Davis, the Pistons would not have that. Cade - shooting 29% this year career 33% Robinson - Elite shooter Ausar - 31% but he only makes 0.3 per game. Basically, he makes a 3 point attempt every 4th game. Davis - see above Duren - Non-shooter. Has only attempted 9 shots outside 10 feet this season. You think they see a lot of zone now, run that team out there and see what happens. They might not see man defense the rest of the season. So injury concerns are not the only reason this trade should not happen. Quote
