I was just going to post a different day 2 write-up that also looks like it's pretty good.

Breaking down Detroit’s Day 2 picks in the 2026 MLB draft

I haven't gotten to the Bless You Boys write-up yet... but that was my next stop...

Hmmm... it looks like my MSN read was pulled DIRECTLY from BYB...

But that's OK... I'll just read the write up twice is all...

That's a bummer, I was looking forward to reading another take on it.

I like what the Tigers did. They really have had issues with their pitching depth even from organization pieces. They needed mature arms and power bats.

that's assuming LSU doesn't make him a better NIL offer than the Tigers can slot him! That's a factor now in later round draft calculus

I would be very surprised if they didn't end up signing him.

Yeah, they clearly had conversations with him of what it would take, and the way their first 10 rounds went, there should be a reasonable amount of $ for him and at least a few of the later high schoolers.

BA did a review of the draft class but here are some tidbits.

Favorite Day 1 Pick: RHP Evan Dempsey

Dempsey is one of the best true two-way players in the 2026 class. He hit well over .300 in all three seasons with Florida Gulf Coast, and finished as a career .329/.413/.508 hitter with 20 home runs and 44 doubles in 162 games. He pitched as a full-time starter for the first time in 2026, taking solid steps forward with his stuff, and owns a career 2.88 ERA in 162.2 innings.

Pro scouts prefer his upside as a pitcher. Dempsey is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound righthander who pitches from the stretch and throws from a low and slingy arm slot. He added almost three ticks of velocity to his fastball in 2026, and now sits around 92 mph and will touch 95. He does a nice job throwing the fastball in the zone to set up a handful of swing-and-miss secondaries. Dempsey has great feel to spin the ball. He attacks hitters with a mid-70s curveball with big two-plane depth and 3,100 rpm spin and a low-80s sweeping slider with less depth and more glove-side lateral bite. Both pitches have above-average potential but will need more consistency and power at the next level. Dempsey has a mid-80s changeup but he doesn’t use it often.

He’s a solid athlete and strike-thrower, and could make significant strides when focused on pitching full-time. His profile is reminiscent of 2025 two-way player and Royals second rounder Michael Lombardi.

Quickest To The Majors: RHP Cameron Flukey. If he’s healthy, there’s no reason why Flukey shouldn’t be one of the most major league-ready pitchers in this class. He has power, multiple quality breaking balls, high-level command and a strong track record as a starter.

Based on everything I have read, and assuming development goes as planned, it feels like a reasonable hope that Flukey in the majors by end of next year.

I hope that pans out better than when we last heard that, which IIRC was about Madden(?)

I want to know the probability that Flukey remains healthy through next year.

I've already given up on that idea. I assume any hard thrower is destined to lose at least a year to the knife.
