They will ride with Mahogany and Ratledge and let them continue to develop.  Mahogany is going to have to find some durability. I hope he’s not one of the guys whose career is derailed by constant injuries.    I can’t imagine Glasgow is back.  First off, he sucks.  Second, we can save quite a bit in cap by getting rid of him.    Decker is maybe not back through retirement or a possibly cap casualty.  The big wild card is does Frank want to come back and play next year or not.   That may change Decker’s mind.   It will also buy them time to use later round draft picks in the next two drafts to try and find the future.

Of course not. It was a questionable call. Sure looks like he got pushed into the safety by Porter, or at least steered into him. Seems more incidental than anything worthy of a flag. Certainly enough to warrant a no-call

Remember too that you can pick legally within 1 yard of the line of scrimmage.  He was just a few steps into to the endzone, so it was that close to not even mattering if he picked or not.

That final play was almost identical to the game winner in Campbell's first win.

I didn't see them missing the playoffs but I did predict 10-7 or 11-6 and a struggle to make the playoffs because of many factors, losing the continuity with both coordinators, losing vital pieces of the offensive line and replace them with young guys, Hutch and Alim likely not being the same after injury and a harder schedule so I'm not shocked that this happened. What I didn't see was their lack of execution in key moments by guys that are usually reliable, Amon-Ra made a ton of critical errors this season for instance. 

Either way, the Lions either take this as a learning experience and springboard to better things going forward or maybe this is what they are now. I do know that Holmes and Campbell have had some arrogance to them Brad in particular that was becoming a little off putting so hopefully this humbles them a bit and they get back to work.

I figured they'd struggle a bit as well, but...  not facing a realistic chance in December of finishing under .500

If at the beginning of the season someone had said the IOL was going to be injured and struggling and that they would essentially bench Montgomery then yeah, this might not have been a surprise. Gibbs has always been the highlight reel, but Monty was the hammer you beat opponents to death with. Dan fell in love with the shiny toy.
 

They seem more concerned with the TD dance than with scoring the TD itself.

i've been off the lions since the vikings game.  that's when it was apparent this just wasnt their year.

hopefully they can shore up some stuff and come back next year.

these things happen.  they still have the core of a good team.  but as time goes on, it seems like they might have missed their window.  i hope not.

makes me sad.

and i avoid game threads as much as possible.  too much emotion.

i made a game thread post when the lions screwed up royally.  emotions run hot in game posts.

I was telling people not to get worked up in a tie came. You come along with the snark after the game is over. For someone who doesn’t want to post in game threads because of emotions, you sure pick an interest time to emerge like a cicada after the Lions season is effectively ended on a controversial call.

btw, the last time the lions got ****ed by the refs there was discourse about "oh, rod and sheila are working behind the scenes."  garbage.  the lions seemingly always get ****ed in these scenarios.  make some real noise, sheila.  for a change

Goff said it was a bad call and I agree. But perhaps a more experienced receiver than rookie TeSlaa would have, once bumped by the one Steeler defender, quickly turned his face towards Goff as if he was expecting a pass, maybe even thrown his hands up. He does that and I don't think the flag is thrown. Looking at the replay, it looks like ASB saw the flag - with the flag being out of sight of the TV viewer -  a second or two after catching the ball, just as he was beginning his TD celebration. So I wish CBS hadn't teased us by waiting 12 seconds to tell us there was a flag.
