Please put a real football person in as Team President. No more Ford Family cronies. I'll give Rod this, he was better than the utter disaster that was a Russ Thomas, Matt Millen, or Tom Lewand. That is a low bar to set though. But that said, I'd love to see anyone of who MB mentioned in Disner, Holmes, or Spielman get the job. I also wouldn't be made if they went outside the organization and brought in a football guy from another organization to run the organization.

If they were to give the title to Holmes I would be happy. They could have him in the dual role of GM/Team President. They could also promote him, essentially give him all final personnel decisions still and then slide John Dorsey or Ray Agnew in as the new "GM" so to speak. Lots of options here. But please don't hire another Russ Thomas drinking buddy or Tom Lewand family accountant or attorney.

They don’t need a football guy. Wood ran the business side of things. No way they should bring a football guy outside of the organization and put him higher up than Holmes.

I think something like promoting Holmes to president and Disner to GM who basically handles day to day and contract negotiations could work.

Yes, a muck-raker with a axe to grind (Vikings fan) simply regurgitated unsubstantiated claims made by another media outlet. This is nothing nefarious. Simply journalism.

A little early, but I ran the PFN Draft Simulator...

No crazy trades but I did trade down twice in the 1st to pick up an extra 2nd and early 3rd round pick...

Also of note... I will not draft a RB unless somehow Montgomery is traded and then I'll use one of the 2026 mid round picks to add one guy to the RB room...

Look I don't want to seem like I'm defending the guy too much here, but he's quoting a legitimate local news station who is quoting a police detective's comments during court proceedings. 

That's not a "My source said he heard someone say..." I mean ideally journalists should fact check, but I think most people would assume that a police detective wouldn't be making comments in court about this if the detective hadn't checked them. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume a police detective is a believable source, especially when the accusation being made is simply that there's a link here... not that TA orchestrated or was involved directly in any way.

In the end I 100% believe that he should have tried to reach out to the Lions or TA to get a statement. But I believe that these days 90% of "journalism" seems to be about getting the story out first, so I can't fault Florio anymore than I fault 90% of "journalism" these days.

I tend to agree. Strictly speaking, he's not saying "Terrion Arnold is connected with two men who were arrested for armed robbery." Instead, he's saying "A FOX station in Florida is reporting that Terrion Arnold is connected..."

It's a fine line, and when you're Florio, with a large audience, there comes a responsibility to do more digging than just retweeting. Hell, I think I did a better job of posting the story here in my first word being "unverified."

This isn't that far removed from if Florio had reported fake news promulgated by a Twitter Bot. Can't do that. And it will cost Florio, to the extent TA's agents (Klutch Sports Group, who represents ~200 professional athletes including LeBron and Jalen Hurts) have now likely put him squarely in the dog house.

But as it stands, I can't really blame Florio too much for re-reporting what on its face appeared to be legitimate news.

He is 100% responsible for the headlines on his site. I’m so tired of the excuse for spreading misinformation as, “well this was reported elsewhere.” Stop copying other people’s poor work and go do it yourself. You can’t completely unlink someone’s name from a situation once they are falsely implicated. We need to stop forgiving the spread of damaging misinformation simply because it’s a side effect of being quick to report.

A real journalist would have reached out to TA or TA's reps for comment, I don't get why anyone pays attention to stuff like this let alone spreads it around

Regarding the Team President, we know the Ford family, under prior ownership, has a history of putting family and friends in that position without much of any football experience. I wouldn't want another Tom Lewand situation where you have a non-football person involved in making personnel decisions. So if they are going to bring in another Team President, and it sounds like they are given that they have employed a search firm, I only want that person running the business side of things if they don't have any football experience. If Brad gets that role ala Scott Harris with the Tigers, I'm perfectly fine with that. I'd also be ok if Speilman got the Team President role. But another Tom Lewand would be a disaster.
