MichiganCardinal Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago Another year, another Bills collapse. I’m not sure it’ll happen in this regime. They can’t string them together in January, no matter what. Quote

The Bills didn’t lose to Lamar or Mahomes or Burrows, they lost to Bo Nix. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I guess you can't blame the 49ers kicker for trying. Quote
lordstanley Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) So on the long completion or on the kneeldown? The last play was the field goal. Edited 15 hours ago by lordstanley Quote
lordstanley Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I’ve seen Payton’s full comments. It was on the Nix run that went for a small loss prior to the long pass that interference was called on Quote

Jason_R Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I think the NFL needs to change the officiating paradigm for DPI. If you, as the WR, have not gotten separation from the DB, you are not getting a DPI short of being tackled without the football. Quote
casimir Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Maybe Phillip Rivers should’of waited on phone calls for another month? Quote

If you, as the WR, have not gotten separation from the DB, you are not getting a DPI short of being tackled without the football. I haven't seen a good replay on the first one they called in OT, but the placement of the ball after the foul indicates it came earlier in the route than all of the replays showed. And the asinine roughing the passer that happened on the same play made it effectively a two-yard penalty on top of that 15. But the second one, he did gain separation. He was like two yards from the defender on the route. He slowed down a little to attempt the catch and that's when the DB gained ground and swiped, making early contact with the arms of the receiver. It would be a good call in the 1st quarter, and ideally they shouldn't have different standards for OT. If anything needs to be changed, it's the yardage. Make it a 15-yard penalty. Maybe add discretion to make it a spot foul for an intentional foul that clearly prevents a score. There's nothing inordinate about DPI that needs to make it a spot foul and effectively award points. Assuming the catch would be made is a stretch on a lot of these. They can be fouls without being 30-yard fouls. Especially when on the other hand an OPI is a mere 10-yard penalty. Bills have no one to blame but themselves. Quote
Jason_R Posted 16 minutes ago Posted 16 minutes ago Yes, the Bills cannot expect to win a game with five turnovers. Yes, the OT interception was an interception. Yes, the Bills got jobbed on a DPI called against them at the end when a very similar DPI was not called against Denver with a Bills player in the end zone. I understand the sentiment for a 15-yard DPI, but this would just lead to DBs mauling WRs downfield. I think the only solution is to tell WRs that if a DB has played you well enough that he is in your hip pocket, he can hand fight you all he wants short of wrapping you up. No flags for hand fighting. No flags for face guarding. Only flags if the DB has his arms wrapped around the WR’s arms before the ball arrives. Quote
