Red Wings February 2026 Game Threads

Wings went 6-4-5 in January for 17 points in 15 games.

Just 4 games this month because of the Olympic break. All are on the road:

Mickey just couldn't stay away from work for a bit.  Dude is at Osgood's house doing the pregame in a neck brace.

Better game tonight so far. 1-0 Wings after 1 on Kasper’s opening minute goal.

1-0 after 2 for the Wings. Huge 3rd period coming up, the Wings could really use at least a point.

Yep, 1-2-1 now in the midst of this key post-Edvinsson pre-Olympics stretch. Win Wednesday and they will have weathered a storm. Felt like a playoff atmosphere tonight.

Yes they did.      we were all feeling it.   the collapse.  

But, the flu has been running through the room and I guess guys were playing while not feeling tip top.

That's the biggest win all year. If they lost that game it felt like they were headed right into yet another late season collapse.

ASP looked good last night..as did Ras and Elmer.  Played with a lot of jam..Avs had a very difficult time in the neutral zone

If I could get two guys off  bad teams it would be Kevin Bahl from Calgary and Thomas from the Blues.

Although Gavrikov and Panarin from the Rangers would be cool too

there is a lot of smoke with them and panarin.  not sure how the lines would work with that.  and he's another small forward on a team whose best players are all small forwards.

I saw some rumor that Panarin was interested in Detroit for some reason?  Seemed odd but who knows.  I think Garikov wants to stay in New York, and I'm sure Panarin would want to if the Rangers were interested in re-signing him.

 

edit: New York guy doesn't seem to think the Wings are in it so it was probably nothing

Kasper's not the guy I would move for Thomas.

Thomas is a RH 1A or 1B (behind Larkin if that's how it works on the Wings...) Center.

That makes Danielson expendable (IMO), not Kasper.

So it has to start with Nate (IMO), and then I'd try to add a smaller skill guy in the minors, plus the 1st...

My guess is they would have zero interest in Ras. maybe MBN they would demand...?

Danielson, MBN and two first round picks, top 10 protected.  st louis loves size (danielson) physicality (mbn) and a couple first rounders.

My hypothetical was a complete joke, I figured Rasmussen's inclusion would make it too obvious!

I'd rather keep Danielson over Kasper but I'm sure the Blues would feel the opposite.  I'd give up a lot for Thomas though, 26 years old with 5 more years on his deal after this season.

i know it was a joke.  😉

i do think the wings have enough to at least make st louis think about it.  i dont think yzerman would give up that much.

In the summer of 2018 we should have offered five 1st rounders for Mitch Marner or Auston Matthews. Svechnikov, Cholowski, Rasmussen, Zadina and Veleno.

Wings showed some signs of life in the 2nd but still down 2 headed to the 3rd. I'd like them to be more than 7 points up on 9th place at the break.
