Ivey traded to Chicago for Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric

Saric is cooked, he is simply salary filler.

Huerter is shooting 31% from three this season.  Last three seasons he has shot 33%, 37%, 31% from three.  Career 37% shooter though.  

This is the last season of his contract.

even worse then.

heurter is "just a shooter" even more than robinson is.  he's been awful with the bulls.  this is a total dump of ivey.

ivey had zero value and this is the best you could get for him.  also tells me they had no desire to keep him for next year and wanted that salary hold off the books.

detroit's pick is likely to be a bit lower than minnys, if that's anything.

Hmmm.  We don't have the roster space to make this happen, so someone is getting cut.  Then I imagine Saric gets cut after that to make room for Jenkins.  

Not exactly sure how this works cap wise either.  Ivey is about $10 million while Huerter is $17 million plus Saric at $5 million.  We don't have cap space to do that.

Saric could be going into the TPE, yes.  But using the TPE for a guy to cut would be horrible asset management.  

Even then, Huerter makes $7 million more than Ivey.  So that trade doesn't work.  I mean it must somehow, I'm just not seeing it.

This trade actually made the Pistons a worse shooting team.  How did that happen.

So Saric was a separate deal and they used part of their TPE.  Just to cut him.  OK

The two guys acquired today can be traded again before Thursday.  But they have to be traded alone.  Their salary can not be aggregated into a bigger package.

Pistons had 15 players on the roster before the trade.  1 out 2 in means someone on the roster has to be cut.  I would guess it will be Isaac Jones.  That brings the roster back to 15 players.  Then if/when they sign Jenkins to his NBA deal, they will have to create another roster spot for him.  I imagine Saric would then be cut to make room for Jenkins.

they must be looking to make another deal.  

as much as ivey may be shooting well this year, huerter is a better pure shooter historically.

i know the pistons need shooting but this cant be the best they could do?  it looks like most of us who placed any real value on ivey were wrong, maybe were placing too much value on holland and ausar too?  especially holland.

help us troy weaver and joe dumars, youre our only hope of fleecing someone this year.

The Pistons? They are about $30 million over the cap.

I actually like this move if they end up trading Huerter again before the deadline in another deal.  Hopefully the expiring contract has some value in it as part of a package for a larger prize.     

If they plan on keeping Huerter othen I’m not a fan of the deal.
