Motor City Sonics Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Likely roster (as of March 10) Starting Pitchers Jack Flaherty Casey Mize Tarik Skubal Framber Valdez Justin Verlander Bullpen Drew Anderson Kyle Finnegan Brennan Hanifee Brant Hurter Tyler Holton Kenley Jansen Will Vest Who's Left Standing or Dylan Smith Catchers (2) Dillon Dingler Jake Rogers Infielders Colt Keith Jace Jung Kevin McGonigle Zach McKinstry Spencer Torkelson Gleyber Torres Outfielders Kerry Carpenter Riley Greene Matt Vierling Utility Javier Baez The last OF Spot seems to be between Trei Cruz, Jahmai Jones, Parker Meadows and Wenceel Perez Meadows would seem to have the edge here, but he needs to show something before the end of Spring Training, doesn't he? I'd rather have Jones or Cruz than Perez or Meadows right now. Meadows and Perez might need to go on the Tony Packo's diet for awhile - until they find their swing. They still have a couple of weeks to sort that out. Things don't look to bright for Trey Sweeney. If Max Anderson, John Peck or Kevin McGonigle go on the 40-man, he's probably done, right? They already have enough left-handed hitters. Quote

Parker is 2 for 22 and one of the two was a come-backer to the pitcher that he muffed. Wenceel is 1 for 17. Here's a thought: Parker and Wenceel both start at Toledo and Jace Jung makes the team with McGonigle. You don't need to keep another pure OF with Javy and Vierling available - heck even McK can play OF. Edited 6 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote

Tigermojo Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Melton, Sweeney or both to the 60 day IL? Maybe Brieske? Quote
IdahoBert Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Madden is the starting pitcher in today’s March 10 game at Fort Myers with the Red Sox. The only media coverage is Red Sox radio. Meadows, P CF McGonigle SS Vierling LF Pérez, W RF Greene, R DH Cruz 3B Jung, Ja 1B Rogers C Anderson, M 2B Quote
IdahoBert Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago We have another 13 of these spring training games to go… and there’s a couple off days sandwiched in. And there’s three weeks between now and when we play the Padres in San Diego. The winter of our discontent continues until then. Quote

Sweeney has been optioned to Toledo, would they have to recall him to move him to the 60? I guess it may not make any difference roster wise to the Tigers but it could to his paycheck. EDIT: Just saw on Tigers MLB page that Brieske is scheduled to throw a sim game today. Edited 5 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote

Well, he can stand in the right hander's batters box, but the way he's hitting this spring, I'm not sure he can bat right-ahded. Or left-handed for that matter. Quote

Or left-handed for that matter. you can be sure that Hinch has looked at exactly how many LHP the Tigers are going to face in the 1st few weeks and that that is going to figure into the decision on keeping another RH bat. That could be what Wenceel has going for him - or not. Edited 4 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago We've got both Perez and Meadows nervous - they've both been on base so far today. 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Corey Julks homers (3) on a fly ball to left field. Austin Slater scores. 7-2 Tigers in the 9th vs. the Red Sox. Quote
IdahoBert Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago We’ve reached that point in this spring training game where on Gameday neither the pitchers nor the hitters have profile photos. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted 54 minutes ago Posted 54 minutes ago So the Tigers actually win a game 7–2 - against the Red Sox - instead of losing or tying, which is OK but in the big picture pretty meaningless. Quote
