The fuel is going to get moved one way or another, and a tunnel is not only orders of magnitude safer than line 5, but also safer than rail or truck transport. Blocking the tunnel would be the perfect being the enemy of the good and you aren't going to get the perfect.

If they use the insane engineering principles that built the bridge, I'd be confident.  I guess it will take a Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse like event to cause the mindset that funds that.

they're proposing a 21' foot diam tunnel. That seems like overkill for a pipeline, even to get service vehicles in there, but maybe/probably  that's the size where drilling equip is already available.

I realize we're talking apples and oranges here, but wouldn't the same basic technology that's being applied in the current Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel basically apply to Mackinaw? That's assuming it's a pipeline to replace Line 5 as opposed to adding additional tunnel and lanes to the HRBT.

The biggest challenge would be boring thru the granite..

Tunnel drilling tech is pretty std - the boring machine walks through hole and you build the walls behind it as you go, but 21' for the mackinaw tunnel is waaay smaller than HRBT - an order of magnitude less work.

The difference is that nobody is planning multi-lane highway under the bridge because why bother?  They just need to transport the Canadian precious spice that moves all.

Just saw a video from Michigan Enjoyer with Charlie Leduff.  He found another women that has supposedly donated roughly $150,000 with about 15000 transactions via Act Blue and is one of El-Sayed's micro donors.

She states she definitely has donated to Democrats via ActBlue in the past, but scoffs at the idea she has given anything near that, she says she doesn't have that much money to give anyway.

I can envision MB in that button meme where he's sweating over pressing a button that allows him to use it against El-Sayed, but realizing he has to believe in something Charlie Leduff says or another button that he gets to continue to blindly ignore any complaints against ActBlue, but then won't be able to use this against El-Sayed.

Where do I begin with this? Lets start first with a link to the article since you didn't provide it: https://enjoyer.com/is-el-sayed-s-campaign-funded-by-elderly-fake-donors-actblue/

A little more on whatever the **** Michigan Enjoyer is. It appears to be a right wing conspiracy rag. When I search your favorite person Benson, I get this:

Once again, LeDuff's only source is Bob Cushman. For those of you who forgot who Cushman is, he is a conservative political activist who claimed the 2020 election was stolen. He was in DC on January 6th. He made claims about some affidavits from Sydney Powell and the Kraken. He's been making these sort of claims against every Democrat for years but has not proved anything. You can get a sample of this lovely character here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2748719862043224&vanity=FrontlineUSA&http_ref=eyJ0cyI6MTc2NDg4NTI4OTAwMCwiciI6Imh0dHBzOlwvXC9kdWNrZHVja2dvLmNvbVwvIn0%3D

Now on to the article. The article mentions she made 47 donations to El-Genocide. What I can find from FEC filings is 15 donations spread over a year totaling about $240. That doesn't include the third quarter. The campaign financials says they received $389 year to date from Elizabeth so that is likely the total with Q3.  That hardly seems suspicious. I searched databases like follow the money and Michigan's database. She does donate primarily to Democrats but has donated to a republican here and there. The article says he took donations from Act Blue. That's deception. Act Blue is not a PAC. It's a conduit. It does look like she has made donations to Act Blue itself. Generally they have been $1 or $2 totally to $600+. I still don't see anything nefarious. Where are her bank statements? Where are the FEC statements they are citing? Why am I doing more investigating than a ****ing investigative journalist?

They made claims about out of state donations. It looks like she made donations $10 here and there to swing state Dems like Mark Kelly and Jackie Rosen. Hardly irregular. The Michigan database shows numerous donations to a Steel Workers PAC that goes back to 2014. Likely some employer PAC. Once again you came up flat.

I decided to look up Mike Rogers. I chose a random name Martha Snearly. Martha is 81 years old. She has donated to Rogers over 300 times totaling over $4,400. Way more than Elizabeth has donated to El-Genocide. Oh and by the way, Martha lives in Ohio. As Bob has pointed out, out of state donations equals fraud. Come on Bob and LeDuff, go down to Ohio and investigate WinRed.

Martha has made over 47,000 donations to Republicans the past year. Over 6,000 of those donations have been made to WinRed. That's three times more than Elizabeth. Clearly something nefarious right?

If you reach out to Martha and she says she's donated to WinRed, but scoffs at the idea that she has donated 47000 times, then yes, something would seem off.  Possibly WinRed is taking advantage of her with some auto deductions she's not aware of or they are using her name to funnel more money to their candidates?

Thats

128.2 donations per day

5.36 donations per hour, 24 hours a day, for 365 days.

Seems unrealistic

It may seem unrealistic, but remember the source is some Bob guy from Michigan Enjoyer and he's a nut (my guess is that is probably true).  So you can ignore this, even though WinRed, ActBlue, and third party political donation tracker sites also are reporting the same thing.  But again, ignore that because Bob was the first to say it, so ignore it.  There is nothing to see here, old people never get taken advantage of.

What claim is even being made? Are they saying money was taken illegally from her account? Are they saying money is being laundered through her account by some shadowy foreign operative? Why is Abdul even mentioned? He only received a fraction of the donations. Are they implicating him? Did she actually donate the money? Where are the bank records?

After watching the video, what a douche LeDuff is. So he goes up to a woman who he thinks has been swindled out of $150k but instead of actually helping her, you just play banjo music to insult her. He makes it sound like Act Blue is a PAC that fundraises for Democrats. He mentions all of her donations have been through ActBlue and not through the candidate's website. He specifically mentions Amy Klobuchar's website. It's the same God damn thing. You go to Klobuchar's website and make a donation and it uses ActBlue. It's a conduit. Every company that operates a website you can make purchases through uses something like ActBlue. He then brings up the different addresses as if ActBlue knew where the donations came from. It's the address you enter when making the donation.

LeDuff is using Bob Cushman as an election expert. You should ignore Cushman's conclusion that there was fraud. All these two chuckle****s discovered was that a woman made a lot of donations to Democrats.

Actually I am not going to ignore, regardless what site/channel produced it.  When an elderly person says there is no way she donated over 70k in donations to democrats, or another that says not only that they didn't give 150k, but that she doesn't have 150k to give anyway, that raises questions.

Equally, when you , who didn't use Bob as a source, spent 5-10 minutes to find Martha made over 47000 donations and over 3000 totaling $4700 to Rogers, my first instinct is I hope someone could confirm with Martha if she's aware of these.

Again, what is the accusation they are making? Have they confirmed she made these donations? Have they confirmed whether she has $150k or not? She clearly acknowledged she has made donations. What exactly did Abdul do wrong here?

They're driving down two different lanes here. In one sentence she didn't know she donated $150k, in another she doesn't have $150k. Which is it? It's really easy to verify if she has the money and donated but they didn't do that. Instead they just find a woman who donated a lot of money, yell fraud, and insult her with banjo music.

The title of the article is: "Is El-Sayed's campaign funded by elderly fake donors?" It would seem that they are accusing El-Sayed of laundering money through ActBlue by stealing this woman's identity. Their evidence is the money admitting she made donations but doesn't know how much. That's it. No bank records, credit card statements, no checking the history on her ActBlue account. All we have is an election denying loonspud claiming fraud because a woman made a lot of donations to Democrats.

Is so helpful that we have poasters telling us not only how we should vote (from a self constructed throne of lies and hypocrisy) but as an added bonus you also get told what to read.

What an incredible service

Possibly nothing.  I do remember on this site complaints about WinRed and some shady techniques they were using to manipulate people into reoccurring donations that they weren't aware of.  Is that only WinRed's fault, do republicans and Trump, the folks that benefitted from it deserve some blame?  I think there is an argument to that.

So when it looks like some elderlly democrats may have been taken advantage of (based on their own words that they did not contribute near the amount ActBlue is stating they did), do the dems that benefitted from their money share any blame?

WinRed automatically enrolled people into recurring donations and they had to opt out. ActBlue does not do that. If LeDuff was a real journalist, he would have gotten her financial records to see if the donations line up. He would have looked into her ActBlue account and see if she is enrolled in recurring donations. He could have accessed the site and made a donation to Abdul to see if it automatically enrolled her in recurring donations. She admitted to donating to Abdul, so which ones were legit and which ones aren't? The title of the article suggests the donations are fake and has nothing to do with recurring donations. LeDuff, either intentionally or out of ignorance, infers that ActBlue is a PAC that fundraises on behalf of Democrats. That's not true. I'm still not sure why Abdul gets mentioned specifically in the article.
