no what you fought and died for was the right of the people to govern themselves, whatever that looks like. If you don't like the public's choices, support better public education, join a civil society org and work to get to the public you want, but don't say anyone working inside the process is somehow unAmerican, they aren't. People you disagree with, even vehemently are part of what an open democratic society looks like. There will always be ugly people in the process. Mamdani is no worse than when David Duke was running for office or any of the RW wing  racist nuts you also had to fight for. You think you have it bad, what about the millions of black servicemen who came back to face Jim Crow in the South. What the hell were they fighting for?

The American public is its own responsibility and I agree we're doing a pretty lousy job at it, but the problem is in the mirror for all of us.

Robert A. Heinlein had his devotees in the military when I was in.   Kegbreath clearly is one.

I love how it’s rarely mentioned that the SAVE Act wouldn’t just require a photo ID to vote. The rest of that is usually not mentioned.

I just voted in person and they asked for my ID. We have voter ID laws.

What they don't have is mandatory passage of your voting data to the White House basement.

but that’s what i mean. he was elected by an enthusiastic public, even with a hugely funded ‘status quo’ political effort against him.  of course, then again what does it say that ‘the establishment invests all its efforts in a creep like Coumo, or that the best the the ‘reformer’s come up with is Mamdani? even if the voters are off the wall that was not much to choose from.

This Senator is no more! He has ceased to be! Expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! His metabolic processes are now history! He kicked the bucket, shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-SENATOR!

(Apologies to Monty Python, and a few true believing MAGAS)

Well said. I’m tired of these jack offs acting like their time in the service makes their opinions worth more than ours.  Too many of them are too ignorant to understand the why.  They just want the glory and perceived moral authority they think comes with their choices. Real public servants keep it quiet and don’t try to brag. Just like religious people shoving it in your faces. They are the first ones you read about in the papers.
