I hope the Spanish is at least perfectly synced with the action on the field…

If only. Total crapshoot whether the audio will be synched up with the video. And of course when it isn't the audio is always ahead of the video. If it were the other way around I could live with that.

I said it last time, but Montero is a better rotation option than Verlander AND Flaherty

Montero could force the Tigers to make some difficult decisions, but I have the feeling that they are probably too committed to Jack and Justin to do that.

That's the BP pitching that I expect most of the summer. Shorten the game to a 6 inning game and our BP shuts the door. Offense still struggling, just enough to win. Take the win and move on to tomorrow.

I wish I knew how to link tweets here.....but I think 5 assists this early is ok.

Eric Wagaman hits an RBI single to center but Max Clark throws Alan Roden out at home. It’s Clark’s 5th outfield assist of the season.

Hit this, lower right;

No doubt. He must have his doubts by now about whether his career is going to pan out.

Question his career choices? 😆

Nooo....these guys make more money in a year than most people make in...what, 10 years? Not sure what Parker makes, a million bucks?? He won't make that as a Walmart greeter. 😅😅

Was anybody watching this game? (These questions are obviously not directed at only you MT39...)

How did Montero do it?

He's always:

1) Had spotty command that comes and goes... It looks like he was hitting his spots this game (just by the box score...) how did he actually look?

2) Had two nasty pitches (sinker/ slider), and not much else that was effective. Those two on = awesome game. One of those two off = crappy game. Did he have two pitches, and two pitches only working this game? Or did he improve his changeup or curve or 4-seamer or some other secondary pitch that just might make him a more consistently effective starter?

His history of 1.5-ish WHIP will not be effective.

If he drops that to a 1.2 or less WHIP he becomes a REALLY nice starter for us.

IMO.

The only starter signed past this season out of Skubal-Valdez-Flaherty-Mize-JV is Valdez.

Sooner or later, a starting rotation spot opens up for Montero...

If he gives this level of quality start often enough.

He would be a usable #5 SP. A 4.00 to 4.50 ERA. We'll see what JV can give us, I'm sure he's going to get several starts to prove he can still be effective. But Flaherty? Totally inconsistent. Not even a good BP arm....or maybe just long relief?

Kieder's stuff is good enough when he has the command to stay ahead. He did that tonight.

I always thought his secondary stuff was weak.

Two nasty pitches (sinker/ slider) working and he dominates. Yes, good command needed too obviously.

When I watched him last year, if EITHER the command was off or one of his two "nasties" wasn't working he gave up too many walks (command) or hits (bad secondary stuff).

That's why I am so interested in whether he develops a third pitch (Bondo's CHANGEUP!!!).

I think if Montero develops his secondary pitches more... he's a better pitcher. More unhittable (if one of the two "nasties" isn't working) as he'll have other ways to keep hitters off balance.

Better command and he'll be more consistent.

I want both.

Just my 2 cents.

The short stroke is really working for Keith and he's even getting good EVs. Be nice to see him turn into the hitter he promised he might be in the minors.

So far so good.

I like how he's starting out this year.
