i got my picture taken with skeeter barnes once when he was manager of the lakeland tigers, circa 2000.  sadly i have misplaced it

I remember going to a Mud Hens game and a group of maybe a dozen fans would wildly yell “SKEETER!” when he came up to bat.  Unsurprisingly, that group seemed to have vacated after beer sales were done.

Does Jahmai Jones have a fielding glove?

Jahmai in the outfield vs Gleyber at 2B with a groundball starter...hard to pick lol.

I should really ease up on Jones’ defense given my own fielding foibles in softball lately.

Well, and the thing about Jones’ slow start at the plate this season.  I forget which pod it was, but one of them this week mentioned his rustiness to start the season given his time at the WBC with Korea and how that might have set him back a bit and not being able to get going.  That probably is a variable that seems to be reasonable.

Plus we faced a crazy number of RH pitchers to start the season. When we finally faced a LH pitcher, he was sick with that stomach flu. I'm glad Hinch stuck with him, it woukda been easy to demote him.

I’m watching the Reds pregame show and I hadn’t realized it - but they told me - that the Tigers are in first place 14–12 in the AL Central. Cleveland gets the nod due to alphabetical order and it’s identical 14–12 record, but the Tigers have scored more runs and allowed fewer so we win!

And it’s “Hall of Fame” weekend in Cincinnati as the Reds are inducting players into their own Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. It’s interesting to see the fans of other teams and the solemn, enthusiastic dignity of their traditions and the Reds having a much longer tradition than any AL team do have quite a lineage.

Also, the Reds are 16–9 but with a -2 run differential so they probably win some close games but sort of play like they’re a .500 team. But winning is what counts, just ask the Cleveland Indians.

It looks like nice weekend weather in Cincinnati this weekend. I tried to type Cincinnati in a George Kell Arkansas drawl but between not knowing how to spell the drawl and spellcheck, I gave up. 😆

Sin Sen Ayt Eee?
