Simple question for TL: Is playoff Duren worth a max contract? The answer will always be the same.

Regular season Duren isn't even worth a max contract.

You don't max a Center unless he's an MVP candidate. You laugh uncontrollably if an agent brings up the max for a rim running Center that isn't a good defender and can't shoot outside of 3 feet.

He's a starter and a high level role player. Average starter salary is 23M, so he should get just a bit more than that.

if someone wants to pay duren north of $30m, let them.

of course, we all know were going to pay duren.  were just fooling ourselves.

We all know they're going to sign him. I'm just asking for some intelligence. Let the market dictate his value and see what offers come in. Don't bid against yourself and just offer him 40+ right out of the gate.

No it is not happening.  You are 100% making it up to draw action to your site.  Prediction markets are not like normal books, they don't win or lose.  They are more like stockbrokers and just collect a commission on each trade/bet.

The draft lottery selection show is this afternoon.

I'm going to laugh if OKC jumps into the top 4.

i hope they do.  well run franchises make their own luck.

I agree. which is why I think the solution to the tanking issue is the simplest one possible. straight lottery. 30 teams, 30 balls. If you suck, you should be better. Hire better GMs, develop better, whatever. Dont hand a generational talent to teams as a reward for sucking.

create a win floor.  you have to have 30 wins to qualify for the #1 pick.  anything less than that and you can't pick higher than 4.

or if a team falls below a certain win # -say less than 25 wins - you add wins to their lottery odds so it decreases the chances.

until you incentivize winning, teams will continue to tank.  its the smart strategy for bad teams in the nba where one player means so much.

the pistons have had terrible lottery luck, but the one time they got the #1 pick, they got cade.  turned the franchise around.  ausar is a nice piece, and ivey was struck by injury, and holland is useless, but think about this team if they had picked #2 and gotten jalen green?

and lets be honest, at the end kf the day the league is just going yo rig the results for the spurs or the narrative (lebron to cleveland, drose to chicago) so none of this really matters.  😉

And make it illegal to trade 1st round picks. Protect teams from themselves.

the reason tanking is worse is because everything they have done to try to reduce tanking has had the result of increasing the number of teams willing to take a shot at the first pick. It's a counter-intuitive thing. Teams tank normally if there one player head and shoulders (in Wemby's case, literally) above the field. If they just went back to worst record gets 1st pick, there would one, maybe at least two teams fighting it out to be worst, and everyone else would play on because they know they have zero shot at #1. And the one team that tanked would get the player so it would be one time thing for them. The objective evidence is that the 'fixes' have all made it worse, but no-one figures out that the answer to that is dump all the fixes. It's the lottery itself that encourages more teams the take their shot at a ~10% (or whatever) chance.
