Deleterious Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Yuck. Great shooter that does almost nothing else. Played 28 MPG last year and didn't even average 1 assist and only grabbed 3 rebounds per game. Not that hot on defense either. Can absolutely stroke the three though. Quote
Deleterious Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Best way to screw up Bostons playoff chances might be to trade Duren there. 1 Quote
NYLion Posted June 30 Posted June 30 They just traded for a shorter version of Hachimura in Isaiah Joe so I don't see a fit. Until I see Shams or even Windhorst reporting something Pistons related I have a hard time believing any of it. Quote

ben9753 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 what a weird off season its been. Pistons going away from what made them succesful, the fanbase almost unilaterally wishing an all start from last year is not paid, but resigned to the fact that he will be over paid. Just a strange feeling about this entire off season so far. 1 Quote

He can shoot but I'm not sure he can do anything else really, that's why I see him as a taller Isaiah Joe and I'm fine with one of those guys but not two. Edited July 1 by NYLion Quote
Betrayer Posted July 1 Posted July 1 8 hours ago, Deleterious said: A sign and trade with LA isn't very appealing. Currently, Ayton is probably the third-best player on that roster and I want nothing to do with him. The next pick they can trade is 2031. Now, Detroit doesn't have to take any players back since LA can absorb the Duren contract into cap space. They could just take the 2031 and 33 picks and call it a day. But I would guess that isn't very attractive to Langdon since he doesn't have a clue if he is even around in 2031. He probably feels keeping Duren helps him today and he doesn't care about 2031. It doesn't matter what year the picks are for if Trajan is just rerouting them to get another player in here. It won't happen but I'd have no problem with letting them take Duren into their cap space and give us picks in return. Best part would be imagining how terrible LA's defense will be with Luka, Reeves, and Duren trying to cover for them. That would be pure comedy. Quote
Betrayer Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Hearing that the Pistons were a finalist for Dean Wade but he decided not to come here. Same thing happened with Kawhi who said he'd only go to Toronto or SA. These are just the ones we've heard about. I'm not happy with the lack of movement to truly improve this team, but how angry can I be if everyone we try to get in FA doesn't want to come to Detroit and other GMs don't want to make trades? Just like Langdon might not want picks he won't be around to use. The unknown team they are trading with might feel the same way. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 Like the earlier Tweet I posted. These moves still leave LA with enough cap space to offer Duren a max offer sheet. Quote
buddha Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Has it been a good offseason for trajan so far? if the lakers are crazy enough to offer him a max and we have to match, wasnt that a huge misread of the market on trajan's part? Quote

Was it a misread of Duren or was it a misread of James leaving Los Angeles? Maybe I'm wrong, but without James leaving, the Lakers can't outright sign Duren without a trade. Quote

Deleterious Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 They set their number and stuck to it, not bidding against themselves. That is exactly how they should have played it. The mistake will be matching. Even if LA and Duren agree to an offer sheet today, there is still a ton of time to work out a sign and trade. 2 Quote
Deleterious Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 There were reports Bonga had signed with Detroit, but those appear to be false. It appears there is still a chance he stays in Europe. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 Something to consider on a matched offer sheet. Duren's current salary cap number is $19.9 million. The minute Detroit matches an offer sheet, his new number is whatever LA signed him to, which could be as high as $42 million this year. So it changes thee cap situation significantly. If their plan was to operate under the cap, they would need to get all of their moves completed before July 8th. Otherwise, they probably operate over the cap and just have the $15 MLE to spend.
