This paint by numbers and going with the percentages things is something a team does because it’s weak. It’s amazing that it worked for as long as it did.

But when you get a raft of pitching injuries and position player injuries, there’s nothing left to work with.

If I were Mize or Skubal I wouldn’t want to stay with a team that is so weak I can’t give up three runs every now and then and expect to win, or the relief staff won’t hold a two-run lead in the eighth or ninth innings. 

I think JV should be the closer.
