monkeytargets39 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 That sucks but pretty clear he just barely got in there Quote
Tiger337 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I hate instant replay (except for the ball/strike calls). Quote

kdog Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Tigers haven't won a game scoring 3 or fewer runs since May 15th vs Toronto(3-2). The bullpen is awful and defense is putrid. They have no chance in a low event/low scoring game. Good fight to get the lead but they weren't getting 6 clean outs. Quote

chasfh Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Come on, Tork, this is exactly what we drafted you 1-1 for. Quote

The thing is it takes too long. He looked safe, but if it takes that long to make a call, then it must not be 100%. I like the replay for obvious mistakes that can be overturned really quickly. Quote

The bullpen has been bad. They have no dominant relievers. For a couple of years, it looked lke the Tigers knew something about identification and management of relievers, but now it's looking like that was mostly luck. Quote
chasfh Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Well, what can you say? It’s not Will Vest’s fault we scored only two runs. Quote

With everything bad that’s gone on since last August, I notice no one is piling on Chris Fetter for any of it. Quote

JackMorrisStache Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Crappy outing by Vest, great view of the meltdown. This team is just so frustrating. Quote

Just not quite enough talent. Vest needs to be able to pick up his mates and he failed, but Montero gets out of the inning if they execute in the field. Quote

You can't keep saying that every time the bullpen blows a lead. Teams with good bullpens can win close low scoring games sometimes. The Tigers run differential is -8 but they are 13 games below .500. The bullpen is partly reponsible for that. Edited June 17 by Tiger337 1 Quote

I can see where there may be a 50,000 ft argument to be made about whether the Tigers, who under Leyland never wanted any pitcher to throw more than 3 pitches, have now gone too far the other way, having guys throwing 2 and 4 seam fastballs (which used to be rarer) and multiple off-speed offerings. Does that contribute to a staff that walks more, and if so, is the payoff worth doing it anyway? But how much of that change in philosophy from the past originates with Fedder I haven't a clue. To me Fedder gets some slack because Jansen's problem is just that's he's gotten old and has less in the tank, Plus we probably have some regressions going on. Vest is a guy that was cut, rule 5'd and cut again before he put together a couple of better years, but that may be all that is there as well. Holton's peripherals were maybe never quite as good as his results. etc. Quote
