Or Kevin McGonigle but point taken

He was a competitive balance pick. I chose my words carefully 😀.

Stewart, Castellanos, Chance Ruffin, Brandon Hamilton, Mike Woods, Nate Cornejo, Trevor Miller, Justin Thompson, Travis Fryman.

So you actually do have some hits in there.

AJ should pull Skubal in the 4th inning just to mess with everyone.

There’s nothing in it for AJ to pull Skubal in the fourth inning.

There would be all the fun of watching the media and hordes of us on the internet trying to guess what the meaning of it is! That's worth something!

(But seriously, I know he wouldn't do it just for the lols...)

WRENCH!!!

Just wanted to toss a thought experiment out here... (toss a wrench into the machine...):

Harris trades Skubal for a great package.

He then wants to turn around and send out a great trade package to the Padres for Mason Miller.

Do you say yes? No?

With the years of control, I'd trade Skubal for Miller straight up, so yes, I'd be up for that.

That thought has crossed my mind.

I've been calling for the Dodgers to trade for Skubal for a while now. But the Brewers, Rays and Cubs look like they could be pretty serious contenders (especially the Brewers and Rays). I think we might be pleasantly surprised with the return we get. If these three have a true bidding war, it'll be insane.

Other outlets are pushing the Brewers.    We'll see if it's anyone.

I don't get the Braves writer who said we're looking for shortstops and Jarvis could be part of the package.  Shows that most writers don't really know much about other teams.

Also remember that they are writing for a particular team’s fan base, so part of it may be just telling the fan base what they want to hear.

The shortstop thing seems to be a recurring theme out there.

With McG - Peck - Ranier I don't see where that's coming from.   And yes I know Peck is probably a reserve at MLB level but he is depth.

Whaaa?? Writers don't do that... do they?

It's interesting. The Brewers have really good prospects, but a lot of them are lower level minors. So that's their biggest problem.

The Rays have a problem that they are LOADED on B/B+/A- prospects where they literally don't have enough room on the 40 man roster for them all. They have like 5 guys they'll need to try and find room for on the 40 man roster. That's why they can be aggressive.

Then you look at the Dodgers. They have multiple A grade prospects but don't really need Skubal. They might be a lil more aggressive now because Ohtani is down (in terms of pitching).  Either that or they get Skubal so that another team doesn't. But they could give two A graded prospects a starter (Sheehan and Wrobleski have been mentioned quite a bit) and another throw in prospect (I reaaaaaaaaally like Kendal George or Brady Smith).  The question is, do they want to overpay? I could see them saying no, but I could also see them saying yes because then they have the inside track to show him LA and hopefully sign him long term. I could also see a scenario where we get an absolute HAUL from LAD. I'm talking like 5 or 6 amazing prospects. But we send back lower level prospects like Ben Jacobs or Malachi Witherspoon to replenish their lower level minors. So basically reloading their lower level minor leagues and increasing our upper minor leagues.

The other dark horses the Braves and Pirates. The Braves could build a package around Camineti or the Pirates could build one around Bubba Chandler. But with those two organizations, I would hang up the phone if those two weren't even beginning the conversation. I'd also listen on Jared Jones and Seth Hernandez but I don't think Cherington is that stupid to even mutter those words.

TLDR: I hope the Tigers pull off a mega trade with the Dodgers.

Rainer gets traded for a right-handed slugger.

I'd be thrilled with Wrobleski/Sheehan and one of the OF Prospects (don't see them trading Wrobleski + as he's been doing great this year).  I want nothing to do with River Ryan as a headliner.  If it's DePaula and Ryan, that's a different story.  But Ryan is overrated as a prospect IMO with his age and injury history.

I agree. Ryan will not be a headline. We will get one of the OF prospects but we should also get Ryan or Ferris in addition to the OF prospect(s).

I could legit see us getting Hope, Tibbs, Ryan and Sheehan. I honestly think something like that is very possible.

See, today's game is why I have so little confidence in the Tigers doing anything substantial down the stretch or into the playoffs if they somehow make it.

You're ace on the mound... a 7-0 lead after 6, then whoops! now it's a tie game. The O's have THREE ERRORS and the Tigers are still in danger of give this one up as we enter the bottom of the 12th down a run.

Edit to add: I know that one game does not a season make. But this kind of stuff seems to happen way too often for me to consider the Tigers a good team.
