Howzabout a merging of an Earl Weaver cursing head inside of a circled CHARM CITY with a voice cloud coming from his mouth and the Maryland flag replacing ####! for the obscenity coming out of his mouth? -

That’s an interesting concept. Create the sleeves to mimic the Maryland flag, maybe using orange in place of the red and yellow? I generally prefer simple, but a tie in to the state flag seems unique for a one team in the state team. -

The problem is he has to show that he is healthy and able to pitch at his usual elite level in order to get any kind of worthwhile offer. I think there is a good chance they won't get anyone better than the 31-35 pick they would get for losing him. -
Yam Madar is a PG that played this season for Hapoel Tel Aviv. He just agreed to an NIL deal with LSU. Rumors are it's worth $5 million per. He was drafted by the Celtics in 2020 but only played one summer league game. Never played on a regular season team. He played 13 games in Euroleague this year and averaged 3 points per game. For his career of about 8 years over multiple teams, he averages 8 points per game. $5 million per is almost certainly more than any NBA team would have paid him.

so given this and your post about the likely future of any Tiger team that went 2-15 - is the inescapable conclusion that the only rational thing to do is offer him (and anyone else over 26 that will bring back value) in trade while there are still 4 months left in the season? If you're ever going to get to the top of the mountain you have be ruthless in your self-evaluation. -
I have zero expectation but there is always hope. I would never plan around a pitcher with a long-term injury.

Rob Thompson, Alex Cora, Joe Maddon, Dave Martinez and Bob Melvin. There aren't many managerial candidates better than AJ Hinch and that's what is saving his job at this time. -
Of course it is, but he has provided decent value the last three years.

I have been banging this Duren drum for 3 years now. His playoff performance did not form my opinion of him, it confirmed it. Your Bulls comment is very odd. Free agency isn't a 1v1 comp. It's how you allocate the money over your entire roster. Picking up Duren for $42 million this year or say Peyton Watson for $27 million and Robert Williams for $15 million. So for $42 million you can sign one player who cant shoot and doesn't play very good defense. Or get two guys who both play excellent defense and one of them shoots 40% from three. That is a better way for a team to spend $42 million than putting all of their eggs in the Duren basket. Especially for a team like Chicago that really lacks talent.

The $64 question is how much any team will pay for two months of even the best guy in baseball. A lot of folks here think it would be a "haul", which I envision people here imagining to be something like an organization's best hitting prospect at the AAA or MLB level who can help us now and their best pitching prospect at the AA level or below who can help in two years and a serviceable pitcher at the AAA or MLB level who can pitch for us now plus a lottery ticket or two. Or is there a haul less than this that people are imagining and would find quite acceptable? -
I don't want to be on this boat, but yet, here I am.
-
I might be more inclined to take a better guy who needs another year or two than a worse guy who's ready right now.

Hao-Yu Lee projects as a third basemen since the low minors, so shoehorning him into second base permanently just so he can learn it is probably a losing proposition for both sides. We could force Vierling into center for lack of a clearly better option, and he does have the range for it, but he has a noodle for a wing and accuracy issues to boot, and you don't want your everyday CF to have the worst arm in the league, necessarily. There are no good answers, I don't think. -
11 blown saves sucks. I wish Chris Illitch would issue and organizational decree to stop signing washed up old relievers.

I think we might be getting to the point where roster changes are necessary even before guys come off the list. Ben Malgeri at the very least. Corey Julks as a LF would have to displace Riley, and that's not happening, unless we're going to front-burner the Riley Greene First Base Experience, which, I could be talked into. I don't know if it's Max Clark yet, because he's not doing great, but how about Max Anderson? Although his one walk against 58 at bats at AAA probably won't play well up here. But at least this would give us new players to whinge about when they flop around on the field. Who are we going to throw at the bullpen (or, to translate for some, "BP") wall? After all, if Ricky Vanasco, who has a 0.53 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, .161 BA against, and 31 Ks and 5 BBs in 17 iP in Toledo, can get the call and completely face-plant up here, how can we expect anyone else to do any better? These are the times that try fans' souls. -
