At some points during a long, arduous 162-game season, a decent manager worth his salt has to put trust in his players to try to win games at the positions he puts them in. In our case, sometimes that means Lee or Colt at third and Kevin at short; other times, it's Kevin at third and Javy at short; still others, Stinky at third, Javy at short, and Kevin on the bench. It's not practical for a manager to optimize every single game as though it's a win-or-die Game 7. He has to battle-test all his guys, and it's good to do it early in the season both to prepare them for situations during higher-leverage games later in the season, and to see who's able to hack it in the first place. That said, Hinch did have Javy on the infield at the end there, so, you did get your wish on this, kind of.
