That's a startling claim, that "no one could have done any better". Canada, which has had some major screwups and is still struggling in the west, has 789 deaths per million of population. The United States has 2,202. The rest of the world was staring, jaws dropped, at how stupid he is. He led the country to almost 3 times as many deaths as a sensible person would have. The 734,000 deaths should have been 250,000, if he had handled it as poorly as we did.

Think about it: You would think a president would come into office hoping to spend his political capital trying to accomplish something positive. GW decided to spend his trying to democratize the ME. Foolish goal but ethically laudable - at least initially. Obama spent his trying to get people more health care and it cost his party dearly. Trump could have spent his directly saving people's lives -- how much better could you do that that? But NOPE, he wasn't having any. A sad man, a tragic man, and a tragedy for the country.

I'm not a fan of rewriting rules due to extreme examples. Kind of like "We have to make the standards extremely high beause there's a 1:15M chance of possible fraud. Nobody's going to start throwing balls over the fence. If they think that happens then they will say the fielder had 'posession' and that means the runner advances 2 spots from where he was when the fielder touched the ball.

I've decided I'm going to use the Archie method. Since we get to make up what a Democrat would have done if they were president, and that fantasy apparently carries some weight in discussions: If a Democrat were president, there would have been 3 cases of COVID in the US, just like there were only 3 cases of Ebola in the US. Wow, reading this is a big flashback moment. Parliament Drive is part of what was called “Cigarette Sub”, a subdivision of streets in Sterling Heights explicitly named after cigarettes, like Winston, Salem, Pall Mall, Viceroy, Newport—and Parliament. I went to Catholic grade school with a bunch of kids who lived there. That was nearly half a century ago, which is about how long it’s been since I’ve thought of it. The memory of it is so hazy it feels like I dreamt it.
