  1. Political theater....those US Ecology facilities are among only a handful of landfills in the country permitted to accept TSCA-regulated (Toxic Substances Control Act) waste. They receive soil and groundwater waste from around the country, much of it as bad or worse than the waste coming from East Palestine; many of my own projects have sent waste there over the years, particularly once the one in Model City, NY stopped accepting material. Government officials in each of those states have permitted the US Ecology facilities and they are never specifically notified of waste received, as long as it is in compliance with their pre-established permit. Coming out now to say they weren't aware their jurisdictions were receiving waste is a bunch of BS and purely theater to be lapped up by the masses.

  3. Looks like there's a good chance it all ends up with MLB. I hate watching games on their Network, for a couple old reasons and a new one. The old ones are, they have a constant crawl along the bottom, plus a box in the RH bottom corner than rises above the crawl—I hate detritus on my screen, especially along the bottom where play tends to take place—plus, the crawl now features in-game constantly-updated gambling odds along with URLs and app names where people can go make bets. I absolutely despise that one. Too bad everybody for whom the Black Sox scandal was a living memory is long dead. The new one, I just saw on a spring training game: they cut away from the game to a double screen, mute the game announcers, and show a full 15-second TV spot in the larger of the two screens. The announcer will be cut mid-sentence, this one time in the middle of a replay description I was actively interested in. It all adds up to a substandard viewing experience. I will be very sad when Baseball takes over the local broadcasting and implements these "innovations" to all 162 Tigers games.

  4. That's what I'm hoping for: upside surprise this season. I think there's a good chance we get that, too. I am not at all a gambling man, but I thought I saw in the past few days the over-under for Tigers wins this season is something in the range of 66.5 to 69.5. I would take the over on any of those for something in three figures.

  7. I'm watching them, too, but I don't always pick up on what everyone else picks up on. I agree, its been fun watching Ivey develop this season. It stinks that he couldn't do so along Cunningham this season, but we'll get that next season, hopefully along with Wembanyama. I know Wiseman was a hotly discussed topic, but I like the pickup. I think he'll show he can be a viable front court option around the paint. How that fits in with today's game, not sure. But if the talent is there, the talent is there. Having talent makes it easier to trade for similar level but different skill set talent that might fit the team in a different/better way. Bey for Wiseman? Some folks didn't like the fit, and I can understand that. But if they can develop the talent and find themselves with an excess big that they can trade to a team with a need for a big that has an excess perimeter player to send in return, I don't think we'll be upset with that.

  10. Very interested to hear how the new clock affects the broadcasts. Not a lot of time between pitches to chat I think that’s going to be very noticeable to the listener right away. You give a the call, the pitch, the count.. not much time left to pontificate.
