He even had multiple last names. To almost everyone he was Robin Yount. To George Kell he was Robin Yunt.3 points

IMO the hold out was well worth it and I salute his standing up for what’s right.2 points

the bears oline is still terrible. that's fields' biggest issue. its the question bears fans should really be asking: is the offense bad because fields is a bad passer who cant read a defense, or is it because the oline is so bad he has zero time to throw. i think its both. he has no time to throw but he also just tucks and runs with no eyes downfield. and when he does throw over the middle he gets picked. it further justifies holmes passing on him for sewell. fix the oline and the rest of the offense will follow.2 points

Seattle didn’t really have a signature win last year. Maybe their best win was against the Chargers or Giants. But they seem to have thought they would coast by the Rams today and got embarrassed instead. Geno Smith surprised last year, but it is one thing to surprise people and back into the playoffs, and another thing to live up to playoff expectations. The team lost its composure in the second half today. It could happen again next week in a hostile environment.2 points

omg. its amazing. INJECT ALL THE BEARS POSTGAME SHOWS INTO MY VEINS!!!!! all those slappies had the bears winning this game and 10 games this season. getting waxed by the pack is just amazing. jeff joniak : "i'm having a hard time seeing the bears not win at least 11 games." they really really really believe in justin fields. btw, their #1 pick darnell wright? awful in this game. jalen carter, otoh, looked damn good for philly. i was watching the pats at my friend's house. came home and watched the bears game. may just watch it again.2 points

You were good at it, no question. Then you wrote the mathball book, and you got all of the royalties from that like you signed a 10 year $25M per type deal, and then you lost your drive and your Troll+ index dropped from the 120s to around sports forum average. In a few years, you’re going to resemble the last seven years of Cabrera. Some folks here will still want to read your posts and wax poetically about your earlier work. Others will complain that your posts just don’t have the same effect as in yesteryears.2 points

The jumping to conclusions here is mind boggling. Why should anybody be surprised that the game plan and personnel groupings for week one — after a preseason in which the first team offense barely played at all, and after a suspension of a promising young receiver — included the veteran Marvin Jones? Yes he was ineffective, and his usage in the second half demonstrated the coaching staff’s recognition of this. Maybe MJJ and Ben Johnson should be taken out back and shot. More likely it will take MJJ a bit of game time to develop chemistry with Goff, just like happened with Chark last year. But if the coaching staff believes MJJ has lost it, something tells me we will find out the week Jaymo comes back.1 point

I think it's pretty hard to say at this point. If he started out with a great OL then maybe... it all hinges on how good of a passer he is. As dynamic as he is with his legs even just being a mediocre passer would probably make him a dangerous QB. But I think he might have had his growth stunted by horrible OLs. If he's constantly worried about being hit he isn't going to make more than 1 or 2 reads at the most before taking off. I remember how we used to talk about Lions' QBs getting happy feet. That they couldn't sit comfortably in the pocket for much time and seemed to be dancing back there just waiting for the hit rather than progressing through reads. I think Fields might have happy feet.1 point

Starting to feel like that ship has sailed. I'm sure he would do better behind the Lions offensive line, but you'd be hard pressed to find a quarterback who would do worse behind an elite offensive line. They have to decide after this season whether he is worth offering a 5th year option to. He's sitting with an NFL record of 5-21. If he leads them to another mediocre record this year, Eberflus and Poles will be on the hot seat needing to deflect blame, if not outright fired. Fields isn't a great scapegoat for them seeing as they could have had their pick of the litter this past draft, but I also wouldn't imagine a long-term extension would be in the works.1 point

I work for a fleet rental company. We had some big wigs from Ford come do a demo witht the new Ford E-Lightning. Seems fine until you get into winter or hot areas. When the temp dips below freezing or above 90 battery capacity usage drops by 30-40%. Plus he said the Ford Battery system allows for only 25 rapid charges in its life cycle after that you start boiling it and decrease life cycle. Unless you install the large 220 charger at home, standard wall plug charge equates 1 hour gets you 3 miles. I just don't see the current EV technology being a great plug and play right now. I did take one of the the lightnings home last weekend. They are nice to drive and having a Frunk (ford term, compartment where engine used to be) allows for nice secure storage space. I am heading to lunch with some clients in an EV Hummer in a minute, looking foward to checking it out. I will post some pics.1 point

People like this drive me crazy. They are good at multiple endeavors, and I'm still struggling to find one thing for myself.1 point

Robin Yount split his career between CF and SS, won a gold glove at one, silvers sluggers at both, an MVP at both positions, and got himself to the HOF. No slouch there.1 point

Their off-season todo list isn't that bad this time. They have to sign or replace ERod, and a second arm would be nice. I think I might like to see Holton compete for a back end starting job which would let them look more for relief help - esp since Alexander and Faedo both can fill the long relief role. Torkelson, Greene and Carpenter have emerged as bona fide MLB hitters, that puts them 3 bodies ahead of where they were coming into 2023. If at least one more out of the group of Meadows, Malloy, Keith, Perez, Bigbie end up as legitimate bats, that puts them 2 hitters away from a better team than the Twins or anyone else in the Central can field. One starter, one starter/reliever, and two hitters in one off-season should not be a bar too high for a front office with virtually zero existing payroll constraints.1 point

It's not worth much, because hardly any one in this forum knows enough about prospects to really understand their value. Maybe Avila, the former scout, actually knew something about him where he preferred him to some player ranked 17th out of 30 in some amateur list. Avila wasn't getting the job done overall, but I see a lot of people here raving about Tigers prospects every day and almost every one of those players was acquired by Avila.1 point

the vikings losing a one score game and the giants getting absolutely smoked is total karma revenge for their complete lucky ass seasons last year.1 point

To me the logic is faulty. If Fulmer had been all that, he would have been the first piece of the rebuild, still in his prime when they should have been ready to content again - which would have been about now, so why on earth would you trade him? OTOH, if he already established that he was fragile and had a flat fastball, you weren't going to get the moon for him.1 point

MTU's got this nice reasonable poster with occasional troll thing going. That used to be my routine.1 point

I don't really remember. There was a lot of anger towards Avila in general at that point. In reality, teams don't generally get top prospects at the deadline unless they are dealing a top starter or stud closer. I'll be happy when the Tigers are no longer in the position of deadline seller.1 point

You don't know how many of this years starting pitchers will be both good and healthy next year. Based on past track record, I'll guess some of them won't be. I think they will need another starter even if Rodriguez stays.1 point

The video is great. I don’t love the song but it’s better than what I expected a new Stones song to sound like now. I’m not sure why they are making new music at this point of their journey but I definitely give them props for staying creative and trying something new and still taking chances.1 point
