  1. With the caveat that "these are professionals and are supposed to play hard and energized 100% of the time no matter what", have to start wondering what type of impact on the dressing room there has been by Yzerman deciding at three straight trade deadlines to not bring in material reinforcements. Management can stress patience and some potential long-term payoff, but players on the ice are supposed to play with urgency? Well yes, they are supposed to, but still ...

  3. Tomorrow’s game with the Giants is going to be another “free game“ of the day and probably where they again show only commercials for the first half inning because the technical staff doesn’t know what they’re doing because they have so much turnover on the SSMLB slave ship.

  4. To me Tork has to make the team. They asked him to re-focus himself and he's done it this Spring. It might not translate, but what else can you ask of him? Can he hit 30 HR in a year? Yes, because he already has. Maybe staying away in the offseason cleared his head. To give up on him now would be ridiculous. Maybe putting Keith and Malloy at first base lit a fire under Tork's arse. The fact that they signed Margot to a one-year contract makes me believe that Meadows is not coming back for quite some time and that Perez will be the one on the Tony Packos Express once Vierling returns. The fact that Margot can play all 3 OF positions will be a big advantage for Dr. Frankenstein Hinch.

  6. funny how much the Tigers could use Clark and McGonigle right now. You know in a year or two when they are actually ready there'll be some kind of log jam.

  7. Yes, he was actually a well regarded prospect at one time. Maybe, the Tigers still see something in him...Unfortunately, it looks more like a desperation move by a team that's really short in capable defenders in the outfield.

  8. This is what you get with MLB a slave ship oligarchy that can’t deliver what it promises. I’m glad I canceled my $149.99 charge.

  9. Most important thing about Mickey Stanley playing short is that he never bumped Northrup out of the game, his counterpart in center. Northrup had a heck of a series. I remember having a Tom Tresh card that showed his positions as SS-OF. Being a Yankee I could care less and never looked into that.

  10. Mickey Stanley’s 1968 World Series is a great story, He had all of 68 innings at SS that season before taking the slot in the championship. Maybe he didn’t hit all that well in the series, but he was easily the better batting option over Oyler.

  11. You can lengthen a career doing that. Mickey Stanley was ahead of his time.

  12. I like it. I’ve always liked players that could play adequately around at several positions. Tony Phillips should be the patron saint of everyday players at different defensive positions. Amen.

  15. I am liking the Sanders/AOC anti-oligarchy/anti-authoitarianism tour. The moderates need to get involved too. They are being way too careful.

  18. That's part of it. I also think teams value versatility more than they did 10 years ago.

  20. Nerve conduction tests are nasty. They hurt more than the injury they are trying to diagnose. In the first part of the test, they give you electric shocks that feel like they are repeatedly hitting you with a hammer. Then the stick needles in you muscles and have you flex. The pain is excruciating.
