That's kind of where I am at. Chapman might have been the best 3B on the market, and his glove alongside Baez would have been fun on the left side of the IF, but his offense has dropped a bit from his prime Oakland days. Ignoring the compensation, I think he'd have been worth a short term deal to handle 3B while Jung is in the minors and to help lengthen the lineup a bit. I think Snell is suspect to coming back to earth this season. He walked a lot of batter last season and benefitted from BABIP. So, I wasn't into paying him off of a Cy Young season. A shorter term deal, ok, that's different. But, again, there's the draft compensation.

I think its interesting to note that while Baez had two of his better SO% seasons the last two seasons, he also had his two worst EV seasons. BABIP and ISO were poor last season.

I would think that some sort of combination of Greene, Torkelson, Canha, Carpenter are the 1st 4 hitters. Meadows and whomever is catching are probably the bottom 2. I guess depending upon whomever is at 3B to go along with Baez and Keith around the IF and however the matchup vs the opposing SP looks might bounce Baez around 5th, 6th, or 7th early on.

I would keep Baez in the bottom 3rd of the order and take his defense. I’m not sure they have any other better overall options for SS at this point. Now, if Baez is still flailing away at the plate and if Kreidler has done well at Toledo through Memorial Day, then maybe there’s a discussion to be had.

Which of the contracts signed this past offseason would you like the Tigers to have?

I don’t remember the last time I stayed up that late to watch a live sporting event. And I cannot claim to have not dozed off a time or two. But it was a damn fun game.

I had heard his stats for the season. But it’s quite another thing to see it like this. I bet that circled shot was an end of shot clock type of deal. Maybe something goofy like a loose ball, he happened to come in from the arc, grab it, and shoot it. Actually, I’d be willing to put your paycheck on it. That’s the confidence I have in that theory.

It might have meant something for a few players that were on the fence between Detroit and Toledo. But even then, I’m not sure stats would be the solely defining measurement for those players.

I’m not sure which sin is worse. Admitting that Avila might have actually made one or two decent moves during his failed tenure or acknowledging that Baez’ defense is still beneficial to the Tigers even though the contract is a net negative.

Grand Canyon and St. Mary’s is going to be fun.

Baez is the Tiger SS this season barring some unforeseen issue (like gambling or something of that sort) or a further collapse of offense and defense.

If I were in a bar room brawl, I’d probably rather be on Anderson’s side as opposed to against him. His hard but wild throwing probably means he’s a hot head if he sees you drinking something he doesn’t like. Eric Munson is from San Diego, so he’s probably too chill to be in a bar room brawl. So actually, maybe I’d prefer hanging out with him. Hmmmmm….. Munson was a C but got moved out to 1B. Probably had something to do with trying to catch Anderson? There might be some long standing bad vibes between the two. You know what, I’m just going to stay home. I don’t need to go to the bar. Sounds potentially dangerous if Matt Anderson and Eric Munson are there. Does that answer your question?

That could also be a factor. Olson tossed about 140 last season between Toledo and Detroit. Maybe 160-170 is his target this season? Skubal has gotten to about 150 before in 2021. Same with Mize, just a few more outs that season. Manning hasn't been above 100 since 2019.
