  1. I think Malloy is more handicapped by his glove rather than where it is positioned. Or maybe its his arm. Or maybe both, I don't know. As for last season, he was at 3B from Opening Day through May 29. Then he was in LF/RF from May 31 through August 20, save for one game at 3B. Then he finished out the season at 3B. And there were some PH/DH duties in there as well. So, he was given continuous blocks of time to work at 3B then OF then 3B. He was moved around from game to game. I think it should be acknowledged that he was given game after game to work in the dirt and in the grass on a consistent basis. I don't mind the optionality, but I don't believe that it is for everybody. And I don't know that the whole team should be moving around defensively on a game to game basis. I wouldn't expect that. The catchers are going to catch. Baez at SS, Meadows (if he sticks with the big club) at CF, Torkelson at 1B. That's half of the defense right there. Greene as a COF or CF, Carpenter and Canha as COFs, however it lines up, and maybe Vierling in the OF as well. Hopefully Keith can handle 2B, and so then there's the rotating door at 3B. It's probably not going to be as fluid as last season.
  2. Well, he swings and misses.
  3. The question now becomes for whom does Ingram get designated for assignment?
  4. The injury thing is what would bother me the most right now. If he can stay healthy, he can improve on the court. It doesn't mean that he will improve if he does stay healthy, but if he can't stay healthy, improvement is less likely. That said, he's played in 40 of 49 games this season. He was likely held out of the end of last season in order to (1) protect him and (2) add ping pong balls to the lottery. So while it was a significant injury last season, there were some shenanigans with some of the DNPs.
  5. Problem is he walks a lot of guys, too, so that will need to be addressed. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ingram000kol I imagine Maton slips through unclaimed and can show Sweet around Toledo.
  6. Did you get tipped well?
  7. Not as lackadaisical as I thought in live time, but still shouldn’t have occurred.
  8. Scottie Pippen, Jr was their high scorer.
  9. I’m tied with Vina on the all time Tiger home run list. #humblebrag
  10. The Cunningham turnover seemed terribly lackadaisical from my perspective. So, the timing of it stunk, but it was the unforced nature of it that draws my ire. And, yes, it was his only turnover. But he didn’t shoot well, he had some assists and rebounds, but the game was there for him to take over. They kept in the game until the final few minutes. It crept away from them in the 3rd, but they closed out the quarter down 3, so that was good to see. Unfortunately this season seems to be more about moral victories than anything else.
  11. Sure, ok, make it happen.
  12. I forgot how good his ratios were for an all star that was placed on waivers.
  13. I think you’ve got a subject for your next book.
  14. I don’t know. I suppose they can still play a weak side middle infielder close to the imaginary line from home to 2B and employ a shift that way for pulled ground balls which might help. But I prefer range up the middle. I think sacrificing too much defense to help out offense is a poor choice. I’m not sure it’s easily quantifiable to figure out the correct balance point.
  15. I agree with you about Torkelson’s range. And if Keith’s range is also suspect, I hope the pitching is such to discourage grounders to the right side.
  16. Jose Cisneros signed a one year deal with the Angels. They also recently signed OF Aaron Hicks. So I guess they’ve plugged the hole left behind by the departure of Ohtani.
  17. Sure would be nice for that to work out.
  18. This is the last home game before a 5 game trip out west and southwest leading into the all star break. Looking at February schedule, it’s looking highly likely they don’t win this month. Today’s home game is one of only 3 home games this month with the final one being another hosting of the Magic. Maybe they steal one at Portland or at Chicago, but it’s looking like another long losing streak.
  19. I believe that Zollner Piston would fit in well with the current Piston (lack of) defense.
  20. Its interesting to me how someone that is lauded for their business intellect and leadership abilities admits to so many appointment **** ups in his term as president.
  21. Hayes, Wiseman, Gallinari, Harris,..... any 2nds to toss in there?
  22. Its one of the competitive balance round picks that is being traded. Those are fair game for trades.
  23. Oh, a statue,..... great call.
  24. It starts with the sanitary/stirrup combo during the era. More sanitary meant more speed. Just look at Gibson's vs Wockenfuss'. Honestly, Wockenfuss probably should have had navy sanitaries, but he showed more stirrup which was mandatory for slower guys.
