  1. Yes. MLB changed uniforms. The Tiger’s player name font is definitely smaller and lower on the shoulders than in previous seasons. But it’s not just the Tigers, it’s all MLB teams.
  2. The classic damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
  3. Kind of a cousin of Washington “Football Team”, but obviously for different reasoning. I remember when the New Orleans Hornets played a couple of seasons in Oklahoma City after Katrina they were called Oklahoma City or a combined New Orleans / Oklahoma City. Along with the basketball motif, the owner of the Sacramento River Cats, who will share their stadium with the A’s, also owns the Sacramento Kings who have bounced around quite a bit in their history including individual seasons that were spent being shared by Omaha and Kansas City. This is probably a run through for Sacramento to see if they might have the chops for MLB, at least from the owner’s standpoint. I think I have dedicated way too much gray matter to trivial sports trivia. I should read a book.
  4. I think another aspect is that Hinch is pushing a lot of bench buttons but maybe also hoping that a current platoon or two might eventually turn into more of a starting situation that someone takes the opportunity and runs with. So maybe a bit of an extended spring training so to speak? But the games count now, so, yeah, taking advantage of those winnable games while trying to see if some questions get answers is definitely a positive.
  5. That looked like a burger to me. I gotta get new glasses.
  6. Yeah, what’s with “West” Sacramento? And will they be called the Sacramento A’s or the Chico’s Bail Bonds A’s?
  7. I like mine with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and French fried potato….. Sorry, that’s just a natural reaction I have. But that burger looks good.
  8. Antonio McDyess would have appreciated that.
  9. Heading into this game, the league average scoring per game per team is 4.63 runs/game. The Tigers are scoring 3.83 and allowing 2.17 (only Boston has allowed fewer, 2.00).
  10. That photo of Trammell and Whitaker doffing their caps at second base in Tiger Stadium is the background on my computer.
  11. OK, but just let the streakers streak. I want to hear Benetti's call for that one.
  12. Geeez, I also thought Ivey and Duren were an absolute steal for the Pistons. I want to say they still have untapped potential, but I could be overestimating them. And even if they have that growth there, is this franchise going to get that growth out of them? And I'll add this, too. If trading them away is the best option, is this franchise capable of making the best of that move?
  13. Looks like a great day to start another 5 banger. Huzzah!
  14. That might be one way to see if the league is paying attention to the Pistons. Obviously its questionable given nothing came about from Weaver's little exchange of pleasantries with a fan a month of so ago.
  15. I don't think that was "down in flames". Sure, he lost. Down in flames would have been an absolute ass kicking whereby the (R)s wouldn't consider him as their candidate again. Semantics aside, I think there's a healthy fear for the upcoming election. I don't subscribe to the confidence bravado that others seem to have.
  16. I think we've heard this before. And yet, it didn't happen.
  17. Sure, I get that the newer fields have pretty good drainage. But, how much rain has it taken it in a relatively short amount of time? There's a breaking point somewhere. Hopefully it doesn't involve an OF's ankle.
  18. I question the excuse on its face. I wonder if there's about to be a public revelation about how awful things are in the locker room.
  19. He wasn't chucking, but teammates were looking for him, and he was taking reasonable shots. There was one play very late, maybe less than a minute, down by 6?..... A steal off of an inbounds and he had a layup, although he was kind of under the backboard with the way the momentum of it all worked out, and he missed it. It wasn't an easy shot, but man, if he'd have hit that, I honestly think he might have willed them to victory. Good for him. Tough game to watch because of course they were down by 20 at one point. But Flynn had the personal game of his life. That was fun to see.
  20. Flynnsanity. Ima copywrite that one.
  21. So, Cunningham out tonight. Supposedly it was load management. But it wasn’t known to the players until right before tip off? Do I have that right? What an absolutely rudderless barge of crap this organization is.
  22. He’s going to get 40.
  23. They’d be down by 30 if it weren’t for Malachi Flynn. Let that sink in.
