  1. I think for Manning it’s more that he hasn’t pitched 100 innings in a season since 2019. That gradual buildup of adding 20-30 innings per season as a developing pitcher has been interrupted. It’s more that than the injuries last season, although the injuries do factor into the interruption. The other thing is, he might not be good enough to crack a 5 man rotation come Opening Day. His traditionals last season are a bit of a mirage.
  2. What will be interesting will be some of the teams in talent rich areas that aren’t necessarily considered football powerhouses. Central Florida or SMU, as examples. Do they jump above North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Syracuse? What about Oregon State and Washington State? And here’s another thing teams will have to come to grips with. Once they tier off the bigs from the littles, nobody is going to want to see the bigs playing the littles. And how will the SEC schools legitimize scheduling the FCS cupcake week when there is a level of competition in between themselves and the teams that they are scheduling?
  3. It was absolutely atrocious. The home scoreboard showed 3 runs for the opposition before the game started last season.
  4. Maybe Gores can take the seat of the defensive wizard coach that is missing.
  5. Just wait it out until the whole thing breaks apart in a few years.
  6. Yeah, you might be right. There don’t seem to be many bullpen options in your probable 8 that are likely to see time in Toledo. I still think there’s a trade that moves some pitching at some point before Opening Day. The Soto trade hasn’t worked out as hoped. I’m not comfortable with Lange’s BB9, not sure if/when that’ll improve. I can see closer by committee even though I think most don’t like it. Or maybe Foley as closer. Whatever, I think they can figure something out without Lange.
  7. Maybe there’ll be a mid season charity tournament soon.
  8. The call was to move down to get Mobley and other assets, but here we are.
  9. Yeah, I think he’s going to need a lights out camp to head north.
  10. Well, and I guess the other thing with the split starts is, how long will that last? At some point attrition will hit. Will that split start split up out of necessity? Will the timing of it be fortunate enough that either/both of those pitchers be ready to go 5 or longer?
  11. Or go FS for failed starters?
  12. Logan refused to lead off. Maybin took it one step further. Or is it one step backwardser?
  13. Cameron Maybin actually lead off of the base in the opposite direction just to make it a fair fight for the opposing battery.
  14. May I suggest AB for arm barn?
  15. Tigers Not Pursuing Trades From Rotation Something's up, ain't it?
  16. I'm still looking.
  17. Hmmm..... Your Cobb photo reference gave me an idea. Get some video of Rickey Henderson and Ichiro Suzuki doubling out of the box. Henderson for the right handed hitters, Suzuki for the left handed hitters. That's how you run from the plate to 2nd.
  18. Sounds like a story math problem.
  19. Can't wait for the Tigers to beat them in the World Series. The Dodger tears will taste like truffle infused caviar.
  20. Uhm, hello? You forgot about Monte Morris being out. And you call yourself a fan......
  21. Yup, they look lost on both sides of the court too often. It seems like they've been doing more defensive switching off on picks/screens lately. I thought they were done with that as a default defense? Although it probably doesn't make much difference anyway.
  22. Stockton and Malone were out and the Pistons couldn’t capitalize.
  23. I’ve never seen such confidence associated with a 20some game losing streak.
  24. That’s interesting. I can see his point of it being more of a straight line by flattening the curve around 1st. So, that would offset the speed lost by running in a curved line vs a straight line. But, and I admit I’m nowhere near qualified to theorize about it in an educated manner but I’m going to offer my hack opinion anyway, it doesn’t seem like there’s enough to speed to gain from home to second by flattening the curve. I but maybe the thinking is that there’s more surface traveled at/around top speed which does offset the additional distance. I just caught the feet/corner combos. I would think right foot on inside and left foot on outside would risk more slippage and/or ankle rolls. The left foot on the inside would seem to work better with the momentum of the rest of the body chugging around 1st. I don’t know. I wasn’t good enough at baseball nor fast enough to worry about such things. Usually if I got to first, that was it. Then the coach gave me a map of how to get to 2nd.
  25. I don't think it will affect doubles. I think on doubles attempts out of the box, runners try to cut the corner of the bag closest to the mound. A curved path cutting that corner would start in foul territory. Or I could be thinking about it wrong.
