Seth Lugo signed with Kansas City for $45M over 3 seasons. Oh, and get this, he isn’t deferring any of it until after the playing contract is up.
-
Aw, those poor Giants, bless their little hearts.

Doesn’t baseball have the most parity? Almost all teams have a winning percentage between 40-60% at the end of the regular season. That can’t be said of football or basketball.
-
Huh, never knew that. We toured the Christmas Story house this past spring. Tiny little place, they definitely did some camera tricks.

I believe the better question is what is wrong with his fearlessly following flock of freaks?

I'm glad they made more money. Its still a fake tournament in the grand scheme of a real NBA season.

You spelled hair plugs wrong.

Hold on, that was Ralphie's mom in the sack in Slapshot?

Pull my finger.

I like how his basketball reference page shows all 5 positions for him over the years. Maybe those designations were more concrete in the past and there is more subjectivity to his position now. There's more positionless basketball now, but he's also been positionless throughout much of his career anyway.

How well are the current Piston projects going?

I understand that there is an equilibrium for the present value of future expenses, and without going into the math, let's agree that $450M/10 now = $700M/10 later. Seems close enough in theory to not quibble about that details, the concept of that individual contract with low cost now to help build a winner now makes sense. But if deferring money begins to pick up steam, what happens in the present with ownership ready to win now pitching these contracts such that they're only paying for fewer premium contracts now, but the deferrals are due later on? What happens to that team in 10 years when the previous deferrals are due as well as the current (at the that point in time) contracts? Could this become a problem? Maybe this is a slippery slope concern, I don't know. Obviously we've seen deferrals before, Bobby Bonilla Day is probably of legal drinking age by now. And it probably isn't going to be something for everybody, not all players/teams are going to engage in this.

Pretty sure Canada is done for a while with this crowd after the latest rule V party. -

Did the Pistons look better and/or did the Pacers play at about 80% effort? -
Its about time the Dodgers catch a break.

Wilma Flintstone vs Betty Rubble. Discuss.

Yes. The Tigers finished 9 games behind. They've got roster work to do still.

Hopefully he progresses to being a better pitcher and all of our worries with his control become a thing of the past.

Yes, I think they’d be better off finding a starter and another bat. What about Faedo as an impact reliever? He had pretty good stats going through a lineup the first time. It was the second time where he struggled. Could he and Horton provide multiple inning high leverage relief? That extra option might make it enticing to send him to Toledo to stretch out for when a SP call up is needed. But maybe his days as SP are over?

Yes, agree. I hope I’m reading into it too much, maybe it just isolated to that game. I don’t see every moment of every game. But it was slumped shoulders, not much of closing out on and contesting of perimeter shots, minimal boxing out. Sure, the game was over early, we’ve seen enough 20some point deficits in the 3rd this season to know that. But be professionals, work on your games, especially when playing time is being questioned. -
Haha, yup, should’of been “formerly”. What a dummy. 😆

As long as it’s the 2022 version and not 2023 version. The sudden spike to 4.9 BB9 last year is notable. But I would think that the pitching part of the front office and on field staff see something mechanically and have the fix to it if they are agreeing to a deal already in the offseason.

Let me amend my post above and say that the current 40 man (with likely subtractions and internal additions) doesn’t seem to me to be a 90 win team. I’ll throw 90 in there as a fuzzy line in the sand as a playoff contender. I think they need more innings out of the rotation. For instance, Gipson-Long as the 8th SP on a healthy depth chart is better than 5th/6th. And I think they need to move away from Lange as high leverage / closer, just too many walks for my liking. And I think there’s still room for improvement in the lineup. Canha is a good add. But Greene’s recovery to for, probably needs to be seen. And there’s still a lot riding on the maturity of a lot of youngsters, some of whom may not be on the 40 today. We can be optimistic about the kids, that’s fine. But optimism doesn’t add much to the win column. 90 wins might not be what’s needed to win the division in the end. That very well may be true. But I think 90 wins is enough for a wild card should for some unknown reason another ALC team happen to win 91.
