I felt the same way about the trade deadline and Morton. I was wrong.
Part of my rationale with being willing to move on from Carpenter or another OF is to acquire pitching from that bit of OF depth that i think they have.
As cruddy as the last 3 series have been, they’re still a game up in the division.
Hey, the playoffs are as simple as win the series and move on. Might as well start that math on Tuesday in Cleveland.
Yeah, that’s why I thought Rainey was a poor choice. That said, I don’t know the health of the rest of the bullpen. It’s possible the options were very limited.
Just to be clear, I'm not saying that trading either Carpenter or Greene would be as a sell-low dumping. Both are cost quality and controllable players. Are there trade options out there where someone would be in excess of their value and/or with different skill sets that could improve the Tigers?
Thinking about the contact play and how defensive positioning scouting is more analytical these days, I wonder if the contact play is riskier now than it used to be?
Nah, don't like this phrase. If somehow they finish 7th and one of the 6 playoff eligible teams becomes ineligible and Detroit would take their place in the playoffs, then I can understand that phrase being used.
