  1. Maybe he likes Pizza Pizza?
  2. This is no fun. Too vanilla. Not enough chaos.
  3. I was watching this one live. Someone has a rough week of practice ahead of him. Of course, the obligatory end of 3rd quarter live interview with the coach, and the question was asked how they need to finish the game. The UW coach simply said taking care of all of the little things like holding onto the ball while crossing the goal line. Luckily for Washington, the defense scored a safety on the ensuing Utah drive (I think it was on first down), and the Huskies held on to win.
  4. I hate projecting end of season records. But what the hell, why not add to the pile? Undefeateds OSU/Michigan is a classic, winner goes on to score bludgeonize the Little 7 West winner in the Big Ten championship game. Oregon wins a nail biter over Washington, both finish with 1 loss against each other. Florida State loses to Louisville in the ACC championship. Alabama defeats Georgia in a highly competitive SEC championship. Texas decisively wins the Big XII championship. Assume all teams mentioned above win out for the rest of the regular season and conference title games except for where their loses have been called out. It won't happen, but go ahead, pick 3 teams to join the only undefeated team (OSU/Michigan) in the playoffs. Those teams include one loss OSU/Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Florida State, Louisville. Did I miss anyone?
  5. Oh, I don't want him back either. But it wouldn't be dull if he returned.
  6. Biff Poggi scoffs at properly written sentence structure.
  7. I don't know. Could the world handle more than one UofM vs OSU football game per season? I kind of like that you got one shot per year against the other, and then its done until next season. So bring it then, and it is what it is. Of course, this isn't to say I would boycott any rematches within the season.
  8. Want not dull? The Phillies might be looking to move Castellanos.
  9. I think what ultimately works against Rodriguez in the eyes of most fans regarding his absence was when the Tigers/Avila mentioned not being able to be in contact with Rodriguez. Maybe I was misreading at the time, but it seemed like as the situation went along, it perception was that Rodriguez wasn't communicating with the Tigers (and maybe also wasn't communicating with/through his agent). I think had the Tigers/Avila appeared to be more unconditionally supportive rather than appearing some combination of confused and exasperated (maybe that's too strong of a word), the fan base would have also been a bit more supportive. Maybe I'm wrong about that, I don't know.
  10. I listened to some of Clawson's interviews on a local sports station back then. It was a good mix of calm, low key, matter of fact, business like, professional. He just seemed to have this quiet strength about him.
  11. I don't know about Martinez' defense fitting in. I know, it sounds stupid given his bat. But I don't think he's a fit if the Tigers truly do want to rotate guys in and out of the DH spot, kind of using it as a semi day off. I do like the theory. But then that means a bat only player like Martinez won't fit.
  12. Same, but there isn't enough popcorn to with the drama How are they not already to the communication devices? That's mind boggling to me. Although, we are talking about the NCAA, so....
  13. I don't know. They have the big 3 contracts with DeGrom, Seager, and Semien. DeGrom isn't an ideal contract, but the other contracts still have useful life on them.
  14. The recent opponents include the worst 3 teams in the Big Ten, so I'm not really sure how impactful that point differential comparison is.
  15. Well, OK, from a free agency acquisition standpoint, I think cost typically outweighs value for the top players. By the time players become free agents, a team is buying their downhill seasons. Having said that, we can look at the Rangers and what they just accomplished. I think its safe to say they have a good roster and they did acquire a couple of the better free agents one offseason to pair up with that emerging roster. Kudos to them for timing that well. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here.
  16. I agree with this theory. And on the other hand, why not both?
  17. That trade has been legally drinking beer for a few years now. Let it go.
  18. Sounds like that's what TCU did. I mean, if you figure out an opponent is onto your signs during a game, you alter them in some way right then and there, don't you? It doesn't matter at that point how they picked up on it. You've got to do something different.
  19. Did he need to be there to file the “MSU sucks” report?
  20. When do the Astros announce Ausmus as manager?
  21. He may be weird. He may be quirky. But he probably ain't an idiot, there's a payday to be had.
  22. Urshela's name kind of surprised me there. The article was favorable towards his defense, but mentioned that the public numbers don't necessarily jive with that. Personally, I think I'd say pass and go with Vierling/McKinstry for now until one of Jung or Keith are ready, but I wouldn't kick rocks if the Tigers brought in Urshela or another 3B option on a reasonable enough deal.
  23. Ibanez put together a competent season. Does he have it in him to do that again? I suppose he could be part of the filler/fodder at 2B until that position figures itself out.
