  1. Were you thinking Shreve as the lefty that’s gone at the end of the season?
  2. Pitcher Bill Laskey grew up in my neighborhood years before me. He headlined an offseason baseball camp at his alma mater which was right across the park from my house. Sheridan was on hand to go over baserunning. Pretty sure it was when he was still with the Royals. Baseball had kicked my lack of skills to the curb by the time he was with the Tigers, so I probably wouldn't have gone to it.
  3. I don't think I consider anyone on the team untouchable. Some are a heck of a lot more expensive than others. Two top 200 prospects is too vague to go off of. Are they both outside of the top 100? I wouldn't return the phone call. Is one a top 100 and the other a top 200? Depends upon the combination.
  4. And weightlifting changed his hair, too.
  5. The problem is that its tough to expect much trade value of the 4A players. Norris for Olson is the exception, not the rule. I don't think its a playoff team. I would expect Rodriguez and Lorenzen to be traded. I don't think there are enough remaining SPs to keep the team afloat given the offense. Heck, I don't know if there would be enough remaining healthy SPs to begin with. I kind of wonder if Carpenter and his inexpensive offense would yield something worthwhile in return, but his defense is compromising. I'd be comfortable with him as DH next season, but I don't really want a long term DH. I'd prefer the offensive players be able to play competent defense, too. Ideally the DH spot could be used for a partial day off or guys dealing with injuries (kind of like Greene now).
  6. Update: The brats slapped and the corn was sweet.
  7. Might need to have a goalie pitch to test this theory out. Don't roll your eyes at me. It ain't the dumbest idea. They're shooting pucks in the dugout this season.
  8. 2 of 3 in Seattle and 3 of 4 in Kansas City would be a very successful road trip. This is a below average baseball team on the road. 3 of 7 is probably the most reasonable outcome for a below average team on a 7 game road trip. 5 of 7 would be fantastic. Sure, today stinks, but the feeling can be erased.

  10. Baddoo and bunting were mentioned in the same sentence this weekend. Since his debut, he’s gotten his SO% down to league average and gotten his BB% above league average. That’s the good. BABIP has been unkind to him, so it stands to reason his results should be better. Maybe I’m thinking too old school, but if he could be a threat to drop bunts down the 3B line, that could potentially open up some opportunities for him. All other things being equal, a ball player with his speed should enjoy a better than average BABIP. I know bunting is a dinosaur and he has other skills to work on this off-season. And maybe he’s worked on it before and it just doesn’t take, I don’t know. But, if this could be another tool in his belt….
  11. Yes, that’s going to be result eventually. But, the sticks need to show up. It’s only a 3 run request for a W right now.
  12. Ugh, Cal Raleigh doing his best Kerry Carpenter impression at the plate.
  13. I think HeyAbbott should’of been penciled into today’s lineup.
  14. The TV boys ate chili flavored grasshoppers on camera today. I’m grilling queso brats with some corn on the cob later today. Advantage, Casimir.
  15. Those black pants need to be retired. But take those blue shirts with the retro font and pair them with the off white pants that they’ve got today.
  16. That broken bat rocking chair from the Twins was absolutely fantastic. I hope that whomever came up with that idea was promoted in the spot.
  17. This got me looking at San Diego's contracts. Manny Machado just turned 31 years old? That doesn't seem right, although maybe he made his MLB debut at 16 years old.
  18. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/07/harris-tigers-open-to-changing-trade-deadline-plans.html The race to ..... 80ish wins is on?
  19. Penciling? Here, try this Sharpie instead.

  21. Yes. I’m still not sure how John Wockenfuss scored from 2B on a single to LF. I guess it was the whole concept of catching Seattle off guard. But to his credit, he ran right through Alex Grammas’ stop sign and tackle to score.
  22. I have that box score from baseball reference permanently bookmarked.
  23. True. But they’re wasting their time with activities that they foolishly enjoy more. I believe I’m failing as a parent.
  24. You’re killing me, Lee. Stop peeing on my dream scenario.
