  2. Yes. I think I was thinking “twinight” doubleheader. Or was it “twilight”? Aw, screw it, win them both tomorrow.
  3. Officially PPD. I guess Short wasn’t fully rested to take the bump tonight. Traditional day/night doubleheader tomorrow starting at 4:10p according to the MLB schedule.
  4. No wonder it’s raining. The baseball gods are crying.
  5. That’s interesting. BABIP is virtually the same at home (.265) and on the road (.267).
  6. Agree with the catching gear and all of that. Plus the catcher is focused so much on catching a pitch whereas a fielder is waiting for the ball to come off of the bat. But we’ll have to disagree on the Tiger defense as a whole lately. It ain’t been good regardless of some fine individual plays.
  7. Start Shorty. Why do I have to come up with all of the good ideas?
  8. Is that the catcher's call? Haase waved his arms about as if he'd lost the ball, I'm guessing around when the ball was close to its apex. The problem is that Vierling is probably looking at the ball and not at Haase. They've got to audibly communicate there. I would think calling it should have been heard by the other, but I don't know. I think some miscues should be expected with Vierling for now. It's going to happen, he's getting used to new territory. OK, fine. The problem is that the rest of the defense has looked a bit ragged lately.
  9. Every time Torkelson gets into a heater, I think, OK, here he goes. And then the ensuing slump seemingly ends up not being a higher floor than before. Hopefully this is where he becomes more consistent as a hitter. Hopefully we're seeing another phase of the maturation process. As for Cleveland's bandbox, this is kind of interesting:
  10. I don't know. Haase had two pretty decent offensive seasons heading into this one. Rogers played all of 0 games in 2022 due to Tommy John. I think there was justification early on for Haase to be the primary catcher and for Rogers to be brought back into live game play slowly. Sure, there was spring training to do that, but its probably a different animal than regular season games. Going forward, Rogers should be the primary catcher. I don't think there's any question about that. The question is do they bring Haase back for another season? Does Sands or someone else replace Haase as the back up?
  11. I'd say keep him there for the rest of the season. There will be the random Greene off day and Vierling will be in CF for that, and that's fine. But leave him at 3B. Let's see what happens.

  14. I don't think this is for the older "traditional" NBA fan. I think its for a younger crowd and/or a soccer crowd. I say soccer because this experiment is a rip off of soccer, is it not? As far as I am concerned, these are regular season games on the schedule. I just wonder which of the 6 different kit sets they'll wear that day.
  15. Oh, I'm not suggesting that's the reasoning at hand, nor that I agree with it. I'm just throwing pooh against the wall trying to understand the decision that was made. I agree with you, give Lipcius his MLB debut.
  16. Sure. We should also encourage more Joe West & Angel Hernandez elements, too.
  17. I got a few that need converted. I grilled one. Sliced it up, a little olive oil, cumin, minced garlic, seasoned salt,.... A little too much salt, but otherwise not bad.
  18. Yes. He's not pitched well enough to not be optioned.
  19. Alright, so hear me out on this a bit. Baez goes on bereavement. Replace an IF with an IF. They are experimenting with Vierling at 3B, which is fine (although part of the risk reared its ugly head in this game). They have McKinstry, Short, Maton available for SS, that trio plus Ibanez for 2B, and that quartet available for 3B (along with Vierling). That gives them 4 bodies for up the middle, which seems fine for a week. 2 on the bench if Vierling is at 3B, but he's going to get some OF time, too. So 1 on the bench as a minimum. Not ideal if someone comes down with a day-to-day issue, but it ain't like they'd have to shuffle Cabrera out to 3B. OK, so bring up an IF for an IF for coverage. They could bring up Nevin, wouldn't that be dandy? No, bat stinks and can only play the corners. Even if only for a week, look for other options. They've also got Perez, Lipcius, Leonard, and Kreidler on the 40. Kreidler is working back from injury, so, OK, reluctant to bring him up. They're probably holding out on the first 3 because they simply don't feel they are ready and/or they want to keep rookie status (which..., whatever). But Lipcius is 25 already and has over 550 PAs at AAA (.277/.364/.408 with a 67 BB to 100 SO split). Seems like he could have been a reasonable call up, although he recently missed time due to injury also. Why pick up Diaz? He was readily available, wanted a warm body that plays up the middle, and he can be simply released after a week without affecting the 40 going forward and preserving rookie status? I can see that angle. But again, on the outside looking in, why not give Lipcius the big league locker?
  20. I've seen this on occasion from other 1Bdudes as well. My guess is its a combination of the runner still being a ways from the base and backing up on the bounced throw is a better hop angle to catch. If the former isn't available, the 1Bdude is forced onto the inside of the bag to make a tougher catch. It looks similar to how an IF waits back on a bounce as opposed to coming in on it.
