It’s Ozzie Virgil. His name popped into my head, I did a quick image search, and this one really stuck out to me. I don’t put a whole lot of time or thought into game thread photos. Obviously things like Opening Day and remembering estrepe are noteworthy. I like to tie in the opponent at times, I think that’s been obvious with some of the players that have shown up that have played for both franchises. I think you caught me on Dan Gladden last week. But besides that, it’s generally whatever comes to mind. -
What would a reasonable sign and trade look like for Cameron Johnson? Sounds like the Nets would match an offer sheet if he signed one. So, what’s the trade return value?
-
I don't think I make either trade. I would hold steady on the 5 for 9 & 16 that we heard about. I think the priority for this team now is higher quality rather than higher quantity. I agree with swinging for the fences with this pick. They need to get the environment right to retain Cunningham if he does indeed become a high level player. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't, that remains to be seen. But there is still reasonable hope for him. And given that Detroit is one of those teams that isn't necessarily attractive to free agents or to players that can force sign & trades to go to, they'll need to acquire their better top players via draft or trade. On the other hand, if quality is the main get, I can understand not giving in to the 28th pick vs the 16th out of principle of value. As far as the other deal with the 2025 1st round pick, I'm not sure I trust moving a 5th now in this draft for the possibility of moving into a worse spot in 2025, although it depends on the "stuff". Maybe its a risk worth taking if its a team like Washington, but I'm not sure I want that deal with Utah and Ainge in charge right now. Edit: I just reread the results of the proposed trade (bolded). I don't know, maybe I'm more on the fence with that than at first thought.

The Phillies. Perfect. -
That's kind of what I am thinking, too. Surround him with competent offense when he comes off of the bench, he can serve a purpose. Even at that, his 3 point shooting needs to improve.
-
Does Hayes have value for this team? His offense shouldn't stick out as much in the backcourt with Cunningham back, Ivey's experience, Sasser & Burks as shooters off of the bench. But does he have enough defense & passing to serve as 4th/5th G (depending upon matchups/rotations and how much gets thrown at Sasser in his rookie season) next season?
-
From the little that I've read, he's especially proficient at catch & shoot. That should fit in well while the ball is in the hands of Cunningham/Ivey.
-
He's got a point. At least about Halle Berry.

I heard Brian Windhorst suggest that San Antonio is trying to get into position to take Coulibaly. So, if the Pistons were to deal #5 to Utah for #9 & #16, is there anything that makes any sense to move #9 to San Antonio? They have #33 & #44, but those would only be additions rather than principals. Does it make sense to move #9 for San Antonio's (unprotected) 1st next season?

Anyone else hear the Hokey Pokey after reading this?

You're thinking about it rationally. Can they pull the wool over Isaiah Thomas?
-
If Phoenix does move on from Ayton, could they be tricked into taking one of the Piston talls?

Yeah, T&M probably isn't suited for the NBA. I find it difficult to believe any new arena will be basketball only, but if the Knights are the primary of one play pen and the NBA team has their to anchor, both buildings can probably find enough other attractions to keep operations moving along in the profitable side. T Mobile might be booked enough that adding NBA games are just too much of a strain. I suppose another arena specifically for an NBA but also allowing for other events would help alleviate any kinds of arena capacity issues Las Vegas might have. Plus, it seems like there is always some sort of renovation/demolition/reconstruction going on there. Some other smaller/older arena might be looking at the wrecking ball sooner rather than later anyway.

2023 Detroit Tigers Regular Season Discussion Thread

I s'pose they could always deploy any extra pitchers as outfielders. Next level chess. -
Its seems crazy that Las Vegas doesn't have an NBA ready arena already. What about where the Golden Knights play? Is that their own playpen designed for hockey only? I guess all of the other basketball ready venues are probably designed for smaller basketball crowds (college) and or not for a permanent NBA tenant. It just sounds kind of silly in part because there are a few college conference tournaments already held in Las Vegas.

I think its foolish to suggest the Tigers are fixing games. But what do you think should be done?

What was with the defense tonight, especially early on in the game? It seemed to be more of the Tigers, but the Royals had some non error fielding issues, too. Weird stuff. Was the infield too dry or something? It seemed a few issues might have been misjudged bounces. -

So the Tigers are still winless in games that Rogers hits a home run and in games that they are shut out? Ugh…..
