Look at how simple that baseball card is. No caught stealings to go with the stolen bases. Not even a nominal tip of the defensive cap to errors. -

I agree, I don’t see a playoff run here this season. But I just want a day to day competitive team, hopefully one without a patchwork rotation where 2 or 3 of the starters struggle to get into the 5th. -
At this point of what we hope the Pistons will become and understanding how the NBA coaching culture is these days, do we expect the next coach to be the coach that guides them deep into the playoffs? Or is this next hire a development coach first, and then reevaluate everything in two seasons?

This is an open question for anyone. What do we mean by "chess piece"? Is that the 2023 phrase for "super utility"? Baez, Greene, and Torkelson can't be chess pieces, they're everyday players. Cabrera, nah, he's a platoon DH. If/when Malloy is called up, he'll be an everyday 3B. But is he a chess piece?

That makes sense. Gibson has spent a good amount of time in the past talking about the running game, watching a pitcher in particular to see if there’s a movement to run off of. I suspect this might be Gibson’s last season. Maybe it’s been gradual and it’s just now dawned on me, but he seems to have slowed down a bit. It stinks, I have liked his work and he’s been my favorite of the recent analysts. I think Petry is probably the better of the choices right now. Maybin will get his games, so hopefully he finds his stride. Somehow the only regular season games I’ve caught on radio have been with Jim Price. I’ll have to listen to the next road series in Washington and Kansas City. -

I will now read off the list of teams that have not lost two games in a row this season: The end. I don’t know about the hitting throughout the lineup. They’ll have ups and downs, but I think mostly downs. Hopefully Greene and Torkleson have more ups than downs and the majority of the mixing and matching aside from that remains competitive. The rotation depth is worrisome. I don’t know what the timetables are for Skubal, Mize, or Manning. Just don’t bring them back before they’re physically ready. It looks like Brieske is still on the 15 and doesn’t like he’ll be back anytime soon. They could pluck somebody off of waivers and transfer Brieske to the 60 if they need to fill a spot. They’ve got Alexander who could be extended if need be. Heck, they could probably just dump Cisnero in lieu of a waiver claim if needed. But it’s hard to see anyone inside the organization right now to call up for the rotation. -

So, the hall itself uses the term within its title. Different terminology is used on Black Diamonds in reference to the different leagues and barnstorming ventures. Cito Gaston was the guest last week, and he referred to black baseball and himself as black and but also mentioned African American. I think its just a case where even the "acceptable" terms aren't unilaterally used (and obviously other words should never be used).

Kendricks opened up his weekly podcast with an 11 minute commentary on the situation. It was thought provoking and eloquent. He has a good story to his career. He began as a volunteer at the original one room museum and has progressed to its president. That museum has easily outgrown the original, and last week he announced that they will be moving to another larger location, across the street from the current location if I remember it correctly. I imagine he would never take sole credit for its growth, but he certainly has been an important part of its evolution.

It was also pointed out before that he's older than some may think he is. So, he's got that other disadvantage of a shorter window to accrue as much playing salary as possible. -

Cameron Maybin made his Tiger TV game analyst debut last night, and I assume he'll be in the booth again today and tomorrow (it seems like that seat is filled by the series). He seemed very chatty, but he had good content. There were a couple of genuine laughs involving Maybin last night, not the fake banter chuckle. So, for those of you muting the TV in lieu of the radio, maybe allow for a few innings to see how you feel about Maybin on TV. -

I hadn't thought of that. I was surprised that Bally's started with that this season. I like it. -

He might have been better off doing that, but I don't blame him for trying the 3-6-3 with the way the inning was going. If the double play is turned, its a 3-0 ball game and the inning ends. Unfortunately the return throw allowed for 2 more runs to score. Taking the force at 1st but not getting the 3rd out at 2nd or no error on the play with the force at 2nd but batter safe at 1st makes it 4-0. Torkelson and Baez both have strong enough arms that the ball can get back and forth, and I think I remember that the throw back to Torkelson was in time but just inaccurate. Is this play similar to baserunning where you take the extra base knowing that the only way you get cut down is with perfect throws and catches? -

I could be wrong, but I think the only few times that Hinch has used Cisnero in high leverage situations is when the bullpen depth is kind of shallow for the game. I'm still kind of shocked that Cisnero was retained and agree his ERA seems a bit of a mirage, but unfortunately he's a part of the bullpen and is going to be used. The trick is to use him accordingly. -

Didn't he take a line drive off of the side of his head in the World Series vs San Francisco? He stayed in the game and had a line of 6 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 SO. -

At least he's been limited to pretty much lower third of the lineup vs LHP.
