  2. I don’t know what it’s going to look like when it’s done, but I kind of just wish it’d get there so we can get acclimated to it.
  3. It wasn’t even a month ago that several here were done with him. Seemed unfair at the time given the fact that he was returning from injury.
  4. Prime Ichiro may be my most favorite baseball player to have watched. At the plate, on the base paths, in the field, doesn’t matter. The fluidity and athleticism that he possessed, and the skill set that he had, and the baseball intellect. Such a blast to watch.
  5. It was easy to see Brieske being moved to 60 for another pitcher. Not sure this is the pitcher, but Elledge can be moved along if a better option becomes available.
  6. The Pistons didn’t fool around with their lineup at times the season? Come on now….
  7. Yes, it’s time to get out of the lottery. They have Cunningham and Ivey in the back court, and Duren in the front court. They have the 5th, they have cap space, they have other movable pieces. It’s time to put a competitive team on the court.
  8. If he really feels that way, he needs to be working the phones with 6, 7, and 8 to see if they would like to move up to 5 and what they will pay to do so.
  9. I’d prefer win the lottery, but I am curious if they consider moving the pick if it isn’t the top pick.

  11. Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something about the phrase that seems too smarmy (chess vs checkers) and too impersonal to the players (pawns). I like utility players better. Heck, just refer to them as baseball players.
  12. Yes, two incredibly short starting pitching outings in the series and they manage to win one of them. Fortunately there are a few days off around now to allow the bullpen from getting too overused.
  13. Interesting that his bat comes around when some time as an OF.
  14. Maybe just the ebbs and flows of baseball?
  15. Look at how simple that baseball card is. No caught stealings to go with the stolen bases. Not even a nominal tip of the defensive cap to errors.
  16. I agree, I don’t see a playoff run here this season. But I just want a day to day competitive team, hopefully one without a patchwork rotation where 2 or 3 of the starters struggle to get into the 5th.
  17. At this point of what we hope the Pistons will become and understanding how the NBA coaching culture is these days, do we expect the next coach to be the coach that guides them deep into the playoffs? Or is this next hire a development coach first, and then reevaluate everything in two seasons?
  18. This is an open question for anyone. What do we mean by "chess piece"? Is that the 2023 phrase for "super utility"? Baez, Greene, and Torkelson can't be chess pieces, they're everyday players. Cabrera, nah, he's a platoon DH. If/when Malloy is called up, he'll be an everyday 3B. But is he a chess piece?

  20. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm just looking at this year.

  22. That makes sense. Gibson has spent a good amount of time in the past talking about the running game, watching a pitcher in particular to see if there’s a movement to run off of. I suspect this might be Gibson’s last season. Maybe it’s been gradual and it’s just now dawned on me, but he seems to have slowed down a bit. It stinks, I have liked his work and he’s been my favorite of the recent analysts. I think Petry is probably the better of the choices right now. Maybin will get his games, so hopefully he finds his stride. Somehow the only regular season games I’ve caught on radio have been with Jim Price. I’ll have to listen to the next road series in Washington and Kansas City.
  23. I will now read off the list of teams that have not lost two games in a row this season: The end. I don’t know about the hitting throughout the lineup. They’ll have ups and downs, but I think mostly downs. Hopefully Greene and Torkleson have more ups than downs and the majority of the mixing and matching aside from that remains competitive. The rotation depth is worrisome. I don’t know what the timetables are for Skubal, Mize, or Manning. Just don’t bring them back before they’re physically ready. It looks like Brieske is still on the 15 and doesn’t like he’ll be back anytime soon. They could pluck somebody off of waivers and transfer Brieske to the 60 if they need to fill a spot. They’ve got Alexander who could be extended if need be. Heck, they could probably just dump Cisnero in lieu of a waiver claim if needed. But it’s hard to see anyone inside the organization right now to call up for the rotation.
  24. Breathiness? You losted me.
