  1. I wonder if Harris would make that same trade. MeadowsA was certainly the more known quantity and the production he had shown would have certainly been helpful. Paredes seemed to be more of the "control the strike zone" kind of hitter that Harris speaks of, at least if you take a generic look at SO% and BB%. Regardless, the deal was made, here we are, where can Harris take it from here?
  2. Last season was probably the first where he struggled. That can be tough to process through the first time around. I would imagine between that, and lofty expectations, and his rookie status, a pair of hitting coaches that have since moved on, and a probably miserable clubhouse, yeah, that might have all contributed to a poor showing. And as has been mentioned, some of his numbers show a bit of bad luck in there, too.
  3. You don't believe it? You've never laughed so hard that you started crying?
  4. I'd like to see them make a run at it, but of course fall short.
  5. You bring up Fulmer and he signed late for $4M. I'd much rather have that than Cisnero at anything. For the 1,000th time, the Cisnero retention just makes no sense to me. He's not effective. I forgot about the Torkelson double. He maybe should have also had another double earlier in the game along the 3B line , but Chapman was able to knock it down for a single. It was a sharp one hopper. He continues to hit the ball hard. He had that 10 pitch AB later in the game. I think he'll be fine this season. Keep stinging the ball off of the bat. If the power numbers aren't there quite yet, OK, fine. Get the contact down and work on the elevation. Someone (maybe you?) mentioned Greene's SO numbers. That worries me a bit.
  6. Sure, its early. But check out these OPS+ numbers. Its just silly.
  7. I wonder if they overestimated what Fetter can do with this group. Manning was the first SP to go 6. Sure, it's early on and guys aren't going to be throwing 8 or 9 innings. But the gas can nature of the current arm barn gets overexposed when tasked with innings that SPs can't throw. The offense..... I just don't know. They had Manoah on the ropes and manage only one 3 run home run, although Carpenter was robbed of a solo home run. But leaving a bases loaded and one out opportunity in the top of the 2nd was crushing. And that was it. The Tigers only got another runner as far as 2B with two out in the 3rd.

  9. The lead was fun while it lasted.
  10. I always got a kick out of him jotting down notes of his previous plate appearance or whatever other thoughts came to mind. You didn’t see that very often, so it was kind of unique and refreshing. You see iPads all over the dugout now, but the actual note takimg was fun to see.
  11. Ok, quick inning there to keep the pitch count in check for Manning. Let’s see if the hitters can get a RP in this half inning.
  12. The Tigers are really working Manoah over, although Manoah is allowing it by not being sharp. Kind of a shame they only have 3 runs to show for it so far. But they’re going to get into the Toronto bullpen soon. I love digging into the opposing bullpen early in game one of a series.
  13. Yes. Understandable that Andrew Miller was a special case, but I thought his success of stamina and t8ming of game might have altered bullpen usage a bit. But it obviously didn’t come to fruition.
  14. Eugenio Suarez.
  15. I guess Diallo assumes that he's gone. https://www.crainsdetroit.com/real-estate/pistons-hamidou-diallo-sells-bloomfield-hills-mansion ZING!
  16. No wonder the Tigers are off to crummy start this season. There's still a holdover stench from last season.
  17. Just need one good packing patriot to take out the perp, right?
  18. The offense is dead last in OPS, .553 vs league average of .730. 27th in runs/game, 3.00 vs 4.63. The pitching/defense is second to last at 6.89 runs/game vs league average of 4.63, 26th in WHIP at 1.519 vs 1.343, 29th in SO/BB at 1.49 vs 2.46. Sure, its only 9 games and expectations weren't great to begin with. And, sure, the schedule early on ain't exactly kind (which, when a team sucks, any schedule ain't kind). But this is ridiculous.

  20. Middle, ending, beginning. Doesn’t matter, they can’t be too picky. But my concern with the Toledo SPs not getting past 5 IP is that Detroit’s going to need starts from its 7th, 8th, 9th SPs at some point. Sure, they shouldn’t be expected to go 8 IP once they’re promoted, but there appears to not be much depth at all in the SP bin.
  21. Team, woman, whatever.
  22. I’d consider it from the Pistons’ side even if there needs to be some back and forth with other picks/player. And who knows maybe Portland is more willing than would be assumed in order to make Lillard happy.
  23. I will be more interested in the morale and spirit of the club to go forward and play ball than I will be of its 40 game record.
  24. I can hear my grandfather rolling in his grave complaining about “that bullshit artist”.
  25. Sounds like a challenge. I'm sure I could screw it up worse.
