  1. I'm just glad the discussion is around pivotal prospects rather than pitiful prospects.
  2. The Pirates are 10 games ahead of the Cardinals through April. I wonder what the return would have been for plunking $1 down on a bet for that on Opening Day Eve?
  3. That's next level carnival barkery right there.
  4. That's too bad. There probably was a measure of fool's gold here, but I was hoping Sacramento get past Golden State.
  5. Sure it is. I still don't understand how anyone is going to buy a ticket in advance to see (the shell of) Cabrera play when he doesn't play everyday. How does one make plans around that little variable? But just to be fair, let's see what attendance is in the summer vs last summer. When kids are out of school and families are more apt to head to the ballpark. Many of those kids will be young enough to have only known the past several years Cabrera rather than the Cabrera that fans want to remember.
  6. They will play today. The radar is swirling, but it looks like a relatively dry window for the game. Tomorrow is an already scheduled off day. Tuesday is 50% chance of snow showers, high in the mid 40s. Wednesday is partly sunny/cloudy, high in the low 50s. Thursday same as Wednesday, a few degrees warmer.
  7. Still got down the line quicker than Cabrera.
  8. Ibanez has 36 innings in 4 games of OF experience in his professional career. Nevin has 381 innings in 50 games of OF experience in his professional career.
  9. The .449 OPS ain't helpful for a fringe player?
  10. Just wait until they go to 4 team divisions after expanding to 32 teams.

  12. The good: 16 hits and 3 walks. All starters except for Rogers reached base safely at least once. Only 3 pitchers used in game 1 of a doubleheader. The bad: Only 4 for 17 with runners in scoring position. 13 hitter strikeouts. Englert and Lange were a bit shaky.
  13. Damn. If that doesn’t get you to run through a brick wall, nothing will.
  14. Go Shorty, it’s your 27th man day!
  15. You don’t think Cabrera gave a fiery speech?
  16. It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for him to struggle a bit in Toledo. I don’t know if it’s the competition or if he’s doing something different or it’s a combination. But whichever, it provides a growth opportunity for him. Nothing wrong with that lesson now.
  17. Thanks for that. I wasn’t so much worried about Short being the 27th man for the doubleheader. But I wasn’t aware that Kreidler was unavailable.
  18. Zach McKinstry, ladies and gentlemen. He’s going to steal the Orioles’ souls today.
  19. Kind of has a bit of March Lakeland home team flavor to it, doesn't it? The roster is getting a bit banged up. Carpenter's injury allows Baez to "rest" that left hand a bit as the DH. Cabrera gets the day game to yuck things up from the bench.
  20. I think that's a big if, so the "risk/reward" is warranted. Although the only reward seems to be Baddoo shouldn't have Cabrera on the bags in front of him, so I'm not sure that assuming an out is a reward.
  21. Yeah, its kind of hard for a smaller market team like Memphis to kick away the lovable underdog role against a team like Los Angeles (not necessarily looking at records, but more so brand/legacy), but this cast of Grizzlies is doing a heck of a job doing that.

  24. Theoretically its been a good fictional season if you're in the right hypothetical mindset.
