Kind of like a Jose Macias type of defensively (who wasn't all that good defensively but found time at 2B and 3B)? For some reason that comparison struck me yesterday. And maybe he's not necessarily all that good if he's been moved to the corners by now.

BB% has gone from around 8% in April to 5% in May. SO% has gone from around 28% in April to 20% in May. Or, I guess another way to look at it is that balls put into play per plate appearance have gone from around 64% to 75% over the same time frames? There's a bit of noise in there from hitters safe on errors, baserunning outs, HBP, etc, but I wouldn't think it drives off of the 64% or 75% all that much. A better base running team than last season putting more balls into play lately. I'm a fan.

It'd be nice to sweep. But this series is in hand. A 6th/7th/8th type SP is on the mound. Its a getaway game. The next series is in the Tigers' personal house of horrors in Cleveland. Hopefully today is competitive to keep that feeling going, Faedo can get into or through the 6th and the bullpen doesn't get too taxed. Don't look now, but the lineup has been picking up its end of the bargain to go along with the bullpen. Keep that going into Cleveland. Keep winning series.

I didn't realize how much time Ibanez has spent at 2B in his professional career. About twice as many innings at 2B as 3B. I thought he was primarily a corner IF historically based in his recent seasons. And maybe that skill set has shifted from the middle to the corners at this stage of his career.

Yeah. Maybe the move isn't made if they didn't have rotation/timing issues. And it isn't surprising to see some inconsistency in Turnbull's early return. Hopefully he takes it in stride, works on what he needs to, and he is a viable piece of the rotation before too long.

Yes, I also think seeing him go through some struggles now in Toledo is a good thing. Work through it. What's the process. Physical, mental. Its going to happen in MLB, so learn that lesson now. I wonder if Greene and Torkelson were pushed to quickly and we're seeing the downfall of that. Before last season, Greene did struggle initially in the lower levels, but Torkelson never really did. As far as DH vs 3B, a couple of thoughts. I agree, I want him getting as many reps at 3B as possible. He has played 171 of the 248 innings of 3B for Toledo. That's the highest number of defensive innings played at any position for the Mud Hens. Meadows is next at 165 in CF. The other thought is that Toledo also has had Nevin, Ibanez, Lipcius, and Kreidler on the roster at some point or another. I want the focus of 3B defensive work to be on Malloy, but there are other guys that should get some game time once in a while at 3B also.
