I think he mentioned something like that earlier in the game. Something was mentioned about Marisnick following ball spin which was probably moreso following where the bat path was when the ball was hit. Hands on the inside of a hit pitch meant basically a slice effect. I like this kind of analysis (even if I did have this bit of understanding before).

Overall I liked his appearance in the booth. It broke up the monotony and he had some nuggets worth listening to.

I'll gladly take something for Cisnero. Maybe the return is Olson. Maybe the return is Maton. If they don't trade Cisnero, the return is nothing, except maybe Cisnero next season.

So, let me see if I get this straight. The Tigers can actually win a game in which Rogers hits a HR. But two pitchers need to be sacrificed in the process? I don't know if that's a worthwhile long term strategy.

Hasn’t Malloy been playing LF rather than 3B lately? Maton and Keith might flip flop a bit, but Malloy won’t necessarily be a part of that. I wonder if Maton is better off in the middle IF. My worthless scouting report is that it seems like his issues at 3B seem highly affected by reaction time. I don’t know if playing back a bit further would help his defense. I don’t know if he’d have the range for it. Heck, they’re putting Ibanez in the OF and we’re likely to see Nevin out there at some point. Might as well try that with Maton, too?

Speaking of cruddy relievers, I was highly against bringing back Jose Cisnero. But he has pitched pretty well this season.

There’s probably no need to rush MeadowsP if the outfield is healthy. Greene will be playing everyday. Hopefully they try Carpenter everyday. Baddoo/Vierling in the other spot. They could split DH with Carpenter vs RHPs and Cabrera vs LHPs, that might open up playing time for MeadowsP vs RHPs in Detroit’s OF. Tough to see a trade involving any of those guys, but you never know.

Same with a half dozen other Tigers.

I like Brown, but yeah, it’s easy to see how might get overpaid given the ring and the lack of free agents.

Is it just me or does it seem like the tougher the play that Baez has, the better his throw to 1B is?

I’d be fine with letting the kids play and using the salary space to gather assets for taking on shorter term bad contracts. It’d be nice to add some outside shooting to the mix. It’d be even better to develop that with the pieces that they have, but that’s easier said than done.
