  1. Sure. Athletes are probably too much into the repetitive nature that what Cueto does can’t be attempted by all. I would think it takes a certain mindset and lots of tinkering along the way to be successful with it. I don’t know if it’d be similar, but Scherzer’s varying tosses to 1B to keep the running game in check comes to mind. He’s never really had a good pickoff move. But what he did learn along the way was to adjust his timing if he did throw over in order to keep the runner more honest about taking off.
  2. I’d be happy with emulating St. Louis’ last 20-25 seasons.

  4. Except he’s not entertaining.
  5. They’re dumping more than Cousin Eddie did.
  6. Well, if he connects just right, he won’t have to run.
  7. I may be in the minority, but I like Cueto’s approach on the mound. Yes, he’s old, his stuff ain’t what it used to be. But he augments what he has with variations on the mound. Moving around on the slab. Quick pitches and slight delays in his deliveries. Adding some of those little things to add discomfort to the batter to try to make up for the aging stuff and movement. Just trying to get whatever advantage he can from pitch to pitch.
  8. Yes, I thought Ibanez might have been the pinch runner. But, hey, Cabrera had a vintage line drive to RF for a double. Gotta think he’s relishing his opportunity this weekend. And the Miami crowd has seemed really receptive to him. It’s a nice personal series for him.
  9. Sure, they could call up Sands and his sub .700 OPS.
  10. I’m not sure it was conclusive. I think it was one of those plays that don’t get overturned no matter what the original call was. I do think he was safe. I think there was a slight bit of movement of the mitt, but I don’t know if that was from a tag or the progression of a catch and attempt at a tag.
  11. I was watching FS1 and they mentioned how, per Hinch, Baddoo had gotten a little pull happy the pitch or two before the home run. It was well timed.
  12. I watched the first 3 innings outside. Caught the rest inside. Hey, the sun got hot. What else was I s’posed to do?

  14. Isn't the prospect a C? The Tigers shouldn't be too choosy about position, but a C certainly would have been nice.
  15. They could schedule the 6 out of division games such that its two teams out of each division (6 total) and those cycle through a 6 year window (ensuring home & homes).

  17. They are 4 games and 4 teams (the teams may be the biggest hurdle) out of the playoffs. I would expect the Angels to make more moves. Is there a copy & paste of Norris for Olson available here for the Tigers? I don't fault them for going for it. It isn't just about the playoffs next season. Keeping Ohtani around to build around may be the bigger goal. But their mistake isn't necessarily going to be how they play this trade deadline. Their biggest mistake is how they haven't been able to put a playoff team on the field in the 6 seasons that Ohtani (and Trout) have been around.
  18. His OBP is still comfortably below .300. Not good. Its actually slightly lower recently than the past year.
  19. Looks like round 2 is headed that way you amateur weather hacks.

  22. Tremendous. This sounds like your avatar.
  23. Well, I guess I’ll just sit outside and watch stuff fly around tonight.
