  1. 1/3 is probably pretty good. I actually thought after Texas moved into their grill. I think I would struggle to get to half.
  2. When I was a kid we played baseball uphill both ways to and from school and we didn’t even use a designated hitter or a fancy pitch com thingamabob.
  3. The NBA has city edition. So MLB had to come up with something slightly different. The Pistons had 5 different jersey sets this season. Traditional home whites and road blues. They brought back the teal things. They also had a green set as a nod to an old gym (St Cecilia) where some of the players would play pickup games back in previous years. And because that wasn’t enough, they had a ball set with a blue and red stripe which was reminiscent of the Bad Boys. Because, hey, why not? Heck, they might as well bring back red set and the burgundy set so they have a set for every day of the week. More merch baby.
  4. You answered your own question. It’s just more merch. The NBA does it. I think the NHL does it. I don’t think the NFL does it (yet).
  5. Good for those kids. Playing for the love of the game. Not sitting around sipping hot cocoa by the fire like a bunch of pre madonnas.
  6. “ThIs sport is soft. They wouldn’t cancel a football game!” Well, if I were a hitter, I’d like the pitcher to have a firm grip on the sphere traveling at 90+ MPH and zipping around my head. Oh, and I couldn’t help but notice that “the real sport” in town plays in a comfy dome.
  7. Putrid softball uniforms at best.
  8. The only criticism that I have is that the game isn't rescheduled for Thursday, which is the pick day weatherwise and doesn't necessitate a doubleheader. Make it a day game. Cleveland has a home game on Friday, Detroit is in Baltimore on Friday. Neither travel is awful. But there are probably other issues involved, such as it might make one or the other have too many game days in a row. Or maybe both organizations simply prefer to keep the travel day intact. Meh,.... whatever. Its baseball. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes it rains.
  9. I understand the weather issues at hand. And I understand not wanting to start a game, and then delaying it shortly thereafter which could cause pitching issues. Its only April, plenty of time to figure out a way to reschedule later on down the line even if there are only a few common off days. The pilot issue is interesting. I guess my assumption is that MLB teams these days have their own planes and pilots, but maybe I am wrong on that? And maybe they do have their own planes and pilots, and I just don't understand the FAA rules. Meh, whatever. Nothing I can do about it.
  10. The weather forecast for this one looks pretty sucktastic.
  11. Cleveland Guardians vs Detroit Tigers Watch: Tigers - Bally Sports Detroit, Guardians - Bally Sports Great Lakes, National - MLBN Listen: Tigers - 97.1 The Ticket, Guardians - WTAM 1100, WMMS 100.7, Guardians Radio Network
  12. 3 innings of whiffle ball at LCA.
  13. It looks like the weather is coming up from the south, at least for now. There were supposed to be thunderstorms down around Toledo, but barely a sprinkle so far.
  14. San Francisco travels to Miami for a Monday night game. Detroit stays home to host the Guardians for a Monday night game (weather permitting).
  15. We were all waiting for the offense to get better last season. Just wait for Baez/Grossman//Schoop/Candelario to return to form.
  16. Yeah, same thing here. I don’t go to too many Mud Hen games, certainly not as many as I would like to. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen his brick there. I was at Opening Day this season and didn’t think about it until we were inside.
  17. Someone should make TV show about it.
  18. They’re still kids. They’re going to struggle at times. BABIP still unkind to Torkelson. BB% is down significantly this season and SO% is up. Seems to be hitting up the middle way more than last season. Hard hit rate is up. Glove has been absolutely necessary at 1B. I’m probably wrong on this, but my completely unqualified eye says he leads the league in DRS on throws to 1B that are scooped. I’m surprised to see how much Greene has been pulling the ball. It seems like he’s gone to LF quite often this season. I’m probably just more sensitive to picking up on LHHs going to LF now with the shift rules that are in place. Trying to decipher whether they’d have been hits last season maybe? I don’t know.
  19. Somebody forgot to tell Sacramento that they were supposed to roll over and play dead for Golden State.
  20. Haha, it helps to put guys in positions which are optimal to their skill sets. I still hate reliever roulette, but the bullpen deserves their credit today. And Cabrera hit a ball that, had the infield been playing normally, could have just been a regular ground out. But again, credit to him for getting the ball where it needed to go. He was down 0-2 or 1-2 in the count. I don’t know if he choked up with 2 strikes or if he shortened his swing, or if he just focused on contact. Whatever, it worked tonight.
