  1. The TV boys ate chili flavored grasshoppers on camera today. I’m grilling queso brats with some corn on the cob later today. Advantage, Casimir.
  2. Those black pants need to be retired. But take those blue shirts with the retro font and pair them with the off white pants that they’ve got today.
  3. That broken bat rocking chair from the Twins was absolutely fantastic. I hope that whomever came up with that idea was promoted in the spot.
  4. This got me looking at San Diego's contracts. Manny Machado just turned 31 years old? That doesn't seem right, although maybe he made his MLB debut at 16 years old.
  5. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/07/harris-tigers-open-to-changing-trade-deadline-plans.html The race to ..... 80ish wins is on?
  6. Penciling? Here, try this Sharpie instead.

  8. Yes. I’m still not sure how John Wockenfuss scored from 2B on a single to LF. I guess it was the whole concept of catching Seattle off guard. But to his credit, he ran right through Alex Grammas’ stop sign and tackle to score.
  9. I have that box score from baseball reference permanently bookmarked.
  10. True. But they’re wasting their time with activities that they foolishly enjoy more. I believe I’m failing as a parent.
  11. You’re killing me, Lee. Stop peeing on my dream scenario.
  12. The chatter of expansion is in the air. I know that it’s likely at some point. And I know that there is a popular idea that 4 team divisions will be the result. My contention against it is based on the math behind smaller populated divisions resulting in keeping better records out of the playoffs in lieu of worse records making it into the playoffs. It almost happened in 1994 with Texas leading the AL West standings at 10 games below a neutral record. This season we currently have AL Central leading Minnesota at 3 games worse than Boston and New York, who are currently tied for last in the AL East and would be scratched out of the second season. Now, I’m not here to throw a pity party for those scoundrels. On the contrary, I hope it holds. This situation at hand is exactly the dose of reality needed that would give pause to slicing up 32 teams into too many portions. In fact, I hope New York and Boston further their records above and beyond the AL Central winner (whomever that may be) yet still not make the playoffs because there are 3 wild cards with a better (and hopefully materially so) better record than the despicable duo. Please, feel free to join me in this worthwhile crusade. I mean, I don’t know what to do exactly except for wait out the season and hope for the best for some and the worst for others. But there’s strength in numbers, and there’s plenty of room on the bandwagon.
  13. You are probably right with the appeal to the children. I shall now quoth my grandfather in law (who sired off 15): God damned kids.
  14. Yawn. My dad and I are tied with 0. What’s more, my son (which I do not have any offspring of the male variety) is also tied with us at 0. Three generations tied with the same number of home runs. Go ahead, top that.
  15. “Ok boys, this is should be pretty easy, we’ll go through this one at a time taking turns. Javy, take this bucket of balls with you out to SS and let’s see how this goes.”
  16. And to add to this, maybe Cisnero could have been used for more than a Mike Bibby handful of pitches?
  17. That 5+ BB/9 ain’t a misprint.
  18. Yes. I recognized Ferrin’s voice from MLB radio. I wonder how many games he’s called? But even if he has experience, I doubt he and Dickerson have worked together before. They formed a good combo early on.
  19. Leftovers from the all star game? Gotta use those before they smell up the fridge.
  20. Old English M? Just don’t go over the top with different colors or pinstripes or skylines or stuff like that. The Tiger jerseys have been historically subtle. A simple change that way would be enough. Maybe a navy blue jersey top with a left side chest old English M is enough.
  21. So here is another play during this game where I wonder what was happening on field vs what we could see on TV. What was the chatter on field as far as where to throw the ball as it was cut off. From what I saw as I saw it live this morning on recording (just go with it), I could see an out at 3B while I was surprised the out was made at home. It took a perfect relay to the plate to make it close (I think he was out) whereas Kelenic was a dead duck at 3B. I don’t want to blame Maton who doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head, perhaps he heard 4/home. But with a 3 run lead and one out late in the game, take the 2nd out at 3B when they run into it. As far as the review, I didn’t see an angle that suggested overturning it either way. It seems to me like whatever call was made, once it was established that Rogers wasn’t guilty of blocking the plate, I don’t see how the result of out/safe was overturned. It didn’t seem obvious enough to me.
  22. I hope he goes Trey Thompson, Jr. Wouldn’t that be fun around here?
  23. So I wonder what he saw from his angle. I bet he thought Torkelson had it as his initial movement was to field the ball which put him in a reasonably good throwing position to deliver the ball home. For all of his fielding question marks, Torkleson has shown a pretty strong and accurate arm. So, we benefit from multiple TV angles, but I wonder if Pollock’s angle (and possibly the base coach) reads significantly different than what we saw.
